He's been my favorite Bear since coming into the league. Better get his act together and play his ass off while he's still here.

Cheer up. Briggs isn't going anywhere. The Bears couldn't get anything more than a 4th round pick for him and he's more valuable to the Bears than that. Briggs and his agent made a mistake in going public with this. They very much need to slow their roll and get off the front page.

Damn this p*sses me off. I'm sick of players signing something and then changing their mind and demanding more. I'm glad it doesn't happen in the NBA. Hey Lance, here's a suggestion -- don't sign the contract in the first place if you want more. When players start to let their teams re-negotiate their contracts to pay them LESS when they play below what they're earning, then maybe I'll start to be ok with players demanding more. :x

What are you talking about? Teams do this all the time. They cut players that still have time left on their contracts. If Briggs had way underperformed at this exact point and the Bears cut him with 3 years left on his contract, would you be pissed at the Bears? Chester Taylor is getting cut with time left on his deal & no ones crying for him. This is how contracts are done in the NFL. They don't have guaranteed years under the CBA so they renegotiate for signing bonuses which is all they are guaranteed.
