Maple Jays @ Yanks: let's never have a day off from now on?

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Fri Sep 2, 2011 7:03 am

Not sure what the condition of the pen is, the Boston series was pretty taxing but the Yanks are still on their game and 1/2 game out. Loving Montero milking pitches and I see him getting his first hit against Toronto.

Ivan the Impaler Nova goes for his 15th...

Nova hasn't been particularly sharp but he's grinding out 2 runs over 6 innings. Yanks pull ahead, can the pen slam the door with a one run lead?

Meanwhile Boston is getting shellacked by Texas!

No. Girardi wanted to give Cano some rest from the field and since Montero doesn't have a defensive need right now with Martin playing well and not enough at first to replace Teixiera he kept him on the bench much like Showalter did with Jeter's first year to get acclimated to the intensity of the clubhouse environment.

Nova is the quintescential "It's not sexy but it works..." pitcher. 15 wins first full time season as a rookie.

Mo is closing in on history. What a season. First with Jeter and hopefully with Mo.

Yanks back in first by 1/2 game.

Not happy with A-rod. This guy looks more and more like Kevin Brown. From the outside looks like a Greek statue, from the inside fine china. Go ahead Cash defend "Fiscal responsibility" when you were hard lining Jeter...

SUDDENLY Jeter's extension doesn't look as bad as A-Rod's 270M owed after this season.

Yea, F^#%} you Cashman...I'm building a great farm system. Fine. But in the meantime, can you stop reminding us of Isiah Thomas with bad cons tracts?

Can you imagine if the Yanks had a cap with Igawa, Burnett, and A-rod on the payroll? Scary. Yanks be in worse shape than the Knicks.

Could be more stolen in the coming yrs. I mean, really we have no clue how healthy this guy is going to be with 8 years remaining on the contract. And this is why kids, you never EVER mess with your body.

You can't put that A-Rod contract on Cashman. He was actually ready to move on when A-Rod opted out, but Levine and Hank pushed Cash into resigning him. Cashman hasn't been perfect but not every contract on the books is his mistake to own.

That is complete horse manure...who's the guy sitting down with A-rod to work the deal out? Who is the GM? Who's co-signature is on that deal? Just compare how the situation was handled between A-rod and Jeter.

A-rod Opted out. Did you hear ANY bad press from the Yanks? All you heard about was Boras YAPPING how embarrassed he was by the Yanks. Then suddenly 300M comes out of nowhere when A-rod drops Boras. Probably the ONLY reason why the Yanks didn't say something was fear of Boras.

300M was spent on a guy based on stats and no championships. A guy who at the time was not a reliable playoff player.

And Cashman was ready to move on? Really what was his contingency plan? He only had the entire season when A-rod was completely broadcasting more money.

Can't tell you how much crow Cashman and Levine are eating. If only we can loop all the interviews when Jeter was struggling before the injury allowed him to correct his swing. And Again, they did that to the Captain of the team, 5 WS rings....etc.

Now I DARE Cashman to play tough with CC. No he won't. Yanks will treat him like A-rod. Blank check. All this "fiscal responsibility" will go out the window...WHY?!?!? Cause the Yanks can't develop enough pitching unless you believe in Philip Hughes as a #1.
