Walton's peak pretty much guarantees you a great regular season and an amazing chance at a title. CP3 peak was 2 years and in 1 of them, he played awful in the playoff so CP3 gives you like 1 great peak playoff, same as Walton, but Walton was much better.

I think the scale of just how little peak Walton played is getting underappreciated here.

The most minutes Walton ever played in a regular season was 2264. Paul's beat that in 5 of his 6 seasons (typically by huge amounts), and wasn't too far away (1712) in his big injury year where he literally missed half the season.

At Walton's peak he had a PER of 22+. If we add the total regular season minutes of his seasons at that level, we get roughly 4500 minutes. Paul has broken 22 in all of his seasons, and has played 15,700 minutes. Granted that I think PER underrates Walton and might overrate Paul, but really ponder that minutes difference.

The reality is that Walton played a grand total of 1 post-season where he played more than 25 minutes per game, and were you a team acquiring him, you'd be foolish to have any confidence when that post-season would be.

I really don't want to hate on Walton. Absolutely love his game, and thinking about him here makes me want to do a GOAT peak 100 next time so we can show him some proper love. However, the only young stars in the game right now who truly don't have prime longevity that laps Walton and laps him again are Durant and Rose.
