He's coming off as quite a distraction. Not anything harmful, per se, but still, with the name change, the number change, DWTS, and now this, the guy just needs to keep his mouth shut and work on his game, because he was anything but solid or impressive last year.

He must know we're getting Dwight. Good thing he said "The Lakers are going to win" instead of "were going to win". It would've been all the more awkward when he finds out he's got to move his family to Orlando.

or probably the Pacers since he's doing this 180 degree turn and wants to comeback fresh and start a new with that franchise. D. Granger for Peace, that'll be enough Mr. Bird.

As much as a distraction as World Peace is... we need world peace. I have no problem with a guy that'll go out there and try and bully players with his defense. He showed no problem the last 2 years in accepting a diminished role.

So what if he's not as good as he was 8 years ago? He at least does a good job of taking star players out of their comfort zone. There are really like less than 3 elite perimeter defenders in the league at the moment, who cares if he can't lock down like he used to? With the idea of getting of him, we'll probably end up regretting the downgrade like Farmar to Blake. I think worst case scenario is we just give him less minutes and use ebanks or barnes more... maybe even have artest come off the bench. Especially with the coaching change I think we need to hang onto artest.

oh I don't consider ron an elite perimeter defender btw. I was thinking it's just Tony Allen and Sefolosha that are the top perimeter defenders right now. Battier and Artest fell off a few years ago. I'm sure there's someone young moving up the defensive ladder but I can't think of who off the top of my head.

I'm just wondering why some of you say he is a distraction, he says and does things off the court, but when it comes to distracting the team he really hasn't done anything to distract them. LO and Bynum have been a distraction on the court, but not World Peace. do you guys really think that Kobe, Pau, and the rest of the guys are feeling pressure because Ron became Peace or is dancing with the statr or guarantees the Lakers will win? really?

I don't understand the LO & Bynum part. LO was the 6th man, Bynum has no personal hardware, but distractions? :dontknow:

Completely agree.... if anything it's a personal-fan distraction in their heads, because they see it as odd - but not to a point of oddity of such seriousness or anything. As, really in the most recent years of his career, the things with Ron non-basketball are realtively harmless in terms of team focus.

Get over it, this isn't 2003/2005 anymore... the guy's clearly changed as a human being.

Still don't really see it G=K. The Bynum foul was in poor taste on the back end of of a 4th game where a sweep was eminent. Hardly a distraction.

I even have to take up for LO. It might be an off court distraction or not but he had his best year.

there is zero basis for calling LO an on court distraction, same with Bynum.

Excellent post.

To say Ron is a distraction on the court is reaching for something that just isn't there.

you don't think that Bynum's unnecessary flagrant fouls and bad sportsmanship and LO's on court inconsistencies have been a distraction to others including Phil?
