Re: Roster Prediction / Cuts Debate
No surprises yet. Mixon was one of the 2 guys on the bubble list, he also had a concussion against the Bills, so I pushed him down to PS candidates and moved Ekejiuba onto the roster for now, and added Wendling to the bubble list.

Donahue will be the punter apparently (good choice IMO) and it looks like Harris will be released.
Of note, Ricardo Silva got cut. We will hope to put him on the PS in all likelyhood, though methinks some folks will be upset about him not making the team outright after a good pre-season

The Detroit Lions waived wide receiver Derrick Williams, a third-round pick in 2009, his agent Chafie Fields said today.

Why did the Pats release Mereweather? And do we have any interest?

No idea why they cut him, but I'd be willing to take a flier on him. First Rounder from 07 (I think), worth a shot in my mind....

I wonder who will be his replacement?
Larry Johnson was released by MIA, and would fit the role of power back that we need. He didn't play much at all in the pre-season, but had a few runs that looked like the old LJ, including a 22 yrd TD.

Re: Roster Prediction / Cuts Debate
Aaron Maybin also released from Jets after initially making the 53 man roster.
He is considered by most a bust, but he was the 11th pick just 2 yrs ago. IMO, his career hasnt even started yet, and maybe just needs to get on with the right team. Playing behind our D-Line, he could thrive, potentially.
I wouldnt be surprised if Brown was released to make room for a player at another position. Some quality names out there now. Best figures to get all the carries as the speedy playmaker role in the backfield. So Brown likely wouldnt have played much anyways. If they can upgrade another position instead, its worth cutting Brown.

What about Chester Taylor. I think he'd be a good addition.
EDIT: Never mind, He signed with Arizona.

Well crap, so much for that idea. I don't have high hopes for the Bears D, but maybe he does...

Re: Roster Prediction / Cuts Debate
WTH aren't we going out and finding guys like chester taylor and other between the tackle running backs when we obviously need them?

That job belongs to Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams. And maybe Will Heller will get a carry.

Re: Roster Prediction / Cuts Debate
Taylor looks done. Averaged 2.4ypc last year and 3.6 the year before. Like most running back when they start to go down hill they go down fast. We're much better off giving a young guy like Keiland Williams a shot than a washed up Chester Taylor. Supposedly Williams is a pretty solid pass blocker and receiver out of the backfield. If the most Williams does is keep Stafford from getting his bell rung on 3rd and longs thats better than anything we'd get from Taylor at this point in his career.

I think his injury history scared us away, and lets be honest, we have enough RB's with an injury history. He's fun when he's on, but he's also going to miss time with injuries, and we needed someone more durable to go with Best me thinks.
