First Pick - Foster or AP?

Post#1 » by MetroDrugUnit » Mon Aug 8, 2011 10:49 pm

Don't think I'm alone on this one.

I was thinking AP since he's a proven workhorse with less of an upside but with less risk. AP has been a top 5 RB for 5 years with no signs of slowing leading up to a contract year on a team that will probably turn to him often. He is on a down trending team with an aging line, lack of overall weapons and a questionable passing attack.

Foster is coming off an insane year and is on a very high powered offense with a younger improving line, top 10 QB and a top five WR. Foster is a better pass catcher and this being a PPR league that could be an extra 30-40 points right there. Question is how far will Foster down from last year.

Any Thoughts?

I'd go AP.

Risk is for later picks, not that Foster is that risky, but AP is as close to zero risk as a pick gets

I agree, Foster could have a bigger season, but he could also have a sophmore slump. Not something I would risk my #1 pick on....get a feel for who the #2 guy wants...maybe get him to trade down if you want Foster

Foster all day and it isn't close. If he falls off some that means he'll pull even with AP.

The hamstring thing is a little concerning, those can be tricky, but then again, this is a guy who lead the NFL is rushing yards on a torn meniscus.

Anyone still doubting Foster just turn your TV to NFL network.

This kid is going to be an animal and he's going to absolutely shred average to bad run and screen pass defenses.

I have #2 pick and was set on drafting Foster, but his injuries in the pre-season are worrying me....

Yeah I'm starting to warm up to Rice #1 overall in these last days before the season starts.

Foster is starting to worry me some with his injuries and even if they truly believe in him as their back of the future they have outstanding depth at RB to take it easy on him this year.

I just got Foster 3rd overall in one of my favorite leagues and kind of wish I took Rice, it's PPR.

I still think I take Foster over everyone else though, although the injuries thing is really starting to concern me to where I take AP over him, cause it's not like he's a slouch.

No way in hell I'm taking Charles over Foster though.

Maybe McCoy in PPR, although Ronnie Browns and early blowouts are going to limit his upside as well.

I would say McFadden, but it's crazy to take him super high and he's just as big an injury concern.

Chris Johnson getting slept on here too.

No one else worth mentioning after these guys, but this seems like a unique year when a number of guys who would be very legitimate picks like back in the day when one year you had Preist, Alexander, Jamal Lewis, LT, Ahman Green, Portis, Edge, Fred Taylor, Deuce, Curtis Martin, Tiki, Ricky, etc. who were all top 5 pick material with a real argument for #1.

I personally take a high level QB first in my leagues. Safer IMO. Rodgers my my 1st pick, 2nd over all.
