our D is too slow and too weak (physically) to play a "defensive" style
our passing in tight spaces is also not good enough

i hope to see a different formation in the next match
the first game vs Mex we saw a 4-2-3-1
this game vs C.R. we saw a 4-3-3

next, maybe a traditional 4-4-2
maybe something with midfielders and possession, 4-5-1
but i dont like how wev played with 1 forward

Need to find a better D then. :dontknow:
Offensive style will just lead to even more defensive mistakes and goals for opponents if you don't have a good defense.

wer looking
but, not many choices left

they keep bringing up Holden's name
i havent seen him play for a while
so who knows how he will look after his injury
and with the team

id like to see a 4-3-3 in a real match
then b able to adjust or switch, mid match
into a better suited formation if its not working

altidore, donovan, aguedelo
brek, torres, clint
kljestan, cherundolo, fiscal, pearce

not sure who to put on D
kljestan, is more of a midfielders

There have been some roster alterations,
with several players returning to their clubs.

Teal Bunbury, Chris Pontius, Landon Donovan, and Fabian Johnson all returned to their clubs = Out

Clint Dempsey, Stevie Cherundolo, and Kyle Beckerman = In

I like your 4-1-3-2 idea

I think a 4-5-1 would be one to consider also for when we have a full roster;
I believe Bradley will be back in the mix real soon...his move to Chievo should benefit him a lot.

Bocanegra---Goodson---Ream---Cherundolo (still not sold on Ream at the national level yet though)
-----------------Bradley------Edu--------
Kljestan/Dempsey(Adu)----------Donovan-------------Dempsey(Shea)
------------------------Jozy(Agudelo)

Rogers better impress today
i dont see much use for him

I definitely agree on the Rogers statement. Really want to see Agudelo and Altidore in tandem. Hopefully Agudelo gets subbed for either Shea or Rogers.

I haven't follwed much with Team USA recently, is there any major reason why Adu isn't on the roster? It seems like whenever he's on the pitch for the national team he makes an instant impact. He has the creativity that pretty much every other American lacks.

I know in the past coaches have had issues with him not working hard enough to get back on D and things of that nature. I would have thought with Klinsmann manning the squad, and his attacking style of play, that Adu would have fit in perfectly. Anyone here with any knowledge of the Adu situation?

well
that 1st half wasnt impressive by usa
1 real chance and 1 sorta chance, to score

started well, keeping possession

last 20 minutes of the half, Belgium had lots of chances
we couldnt get the ball and hold it

SUBSTITUTIONS

Two subs for the USA as the second half is about to begin:

Juan Agudelo on for Jozy Altidore

and

Kyle Beckerman on for Robbie Rogers.

Didn't like the US performance today. Majority of the first half, Belgium seemed to be another level. If it wasn't for Howard, Belgium should have bury the US early on. Once Belgium took the lead, they seem to be content with the score and release some of the gas on the pedal. But even then, the US didn't really look good despite some decent possessions throughout the game. Most of the time, their offense did not have any direction at all.

we get into the box plenty
but wer trying to put that last perfect touch on the ball
and wer not ending up with any shot/chance

Agudelo blew a big opportunity late as he was completely inept when it came to skilling on the break. I chalk that up to lack of experience...but we really need him to mature quickly.

It's gonna take a while for the US to completely transition their play style as well as integrate the new players Jurgen is favoring. However the biggest thing here is that I think he's chosen the correct direction to take this team and he's using the right players to do it. Some haven't been all that effective but I've always been a huge fan of Torres and thank god Jurgen realizes that he is our most technically skilled player behind Dempsey.

When we get Holden back things will look a little better and I think the formation Jurgen has implemented makes a lot of sense given our player pool; no forwards and a ton of above average to good mids. Holden, Torres, Dempsey, Donovan in the midfield sounds potent and Altidore has been getting progressively better, though I've always been a huge fan of his.
