The Texans have a logjam at RB so they could be willing to part with some talent for low cost.

Well hey there Debbie Downer. You don't think Fairley or LeShore is ever going to see the field? Come now Jeff....

Leshoure can come back but history shows the Achilles injury takes a full year and the player clearly loses initial burst. The repair actually makes the heel stronger but it takes away flexibility to torque from a solid plant.

I stand by my earlier statement that Fairley will come off PUP, get hurt right away, and go on IR. Then he will show up fat next summer and go thru the same crap again. I'll treat the current board regulars to a Lions preseason game in 2013 if Fairley plays more than 6 games in the next two years.

Sweet, something for nothing, you have me sold, TSE never passes up a good deal! :) Although I prefer watching the Lions on TV because I have fundamental disagreements with the Ford Field stadium design; our home field makes me sad. I could make a post about why I don't like it, but I'm pretty tied up in talking about Stafford trades and such you know? lol

What about the parking cost is that included, or might we be carpooling?

The supplemental draft just got postponed, that's kind of interesting. It could lower the value of all the players a tiny fraction since giving up the next year's pick with less time to examine them before taking away another player's job just becomes slightly more difficult, in addition to it could take longer for those players to be game ready to contribute this year. Perhaps the OSU tackle could lose a round if the highest potential bidder drops down a round. Maybe the Lions can get a nice value steal on him? Would any Lions fans put a bid in for Pryor? I'd have to think about a 7th round pick. The kid is pretty much a loser, but he still has talent and I already want us to trade a QB so I'd probably throw out a 7th just in case nobody else wants that jerk. Although once he has his pro day I'm sure that will likely elevate his stock much higher or drop him out altogether.

I think you meant king of the "Hill"? I guess so if he isn't making that much of an impression on you lol. But yeah I agree and I'm down. I'd rather trade both of them though to keep 2 spots open. I think people don't respect Stanton though so if there is no price to gain then I would just stick with him. Plus they should get a TON of playing time in the next 3 games, cause Stafford won't play much. I don't even know if I would let Stafford touch the ball anymore. I'd tell him oh grow up dude you dont need practice for 1 or 2 series, you are fine and you are ready and just wait til Game 1 it will be ok. Getting reps now is just going to risk his health more and also give a head's up to our opponents about the hurt that is coming for them, I'd rather blindside them with it and not show them anything right now. Stafford could probably talk me into playing a tiny amount, but there ain't anything CJ could come up with that would get him on the field, no way not on my watch. He should be banned from the preseason.

Lets not trade Shaun Hill. Lets offer Drew Stanton to the 49ers. They've brought in Culpepper and now Josh McCown. Apparently Alex Smith isn't good, who knew? And there a premium on ex-Lions in San Fran.

Cardinals RB Ryan Williams, the 38th pick in the draft (19 picks higher than Leshoure), has a possible knee injury that is likely a season ending injury and possibly a career threatening injury (just reported on Rotoworld). That's terrible news to hear for him on a personal level, nevertheless one team's misery is our team's opportunity. Maybe we can sell them a RB, or a pair of RBs to compete for a single roster spot.

We should try to engage them in talks about a bigger trade concerning a higher profile player, and then sell it as "if you do this trade we will throw in the RB pair for free as a bonus incentive".

Bell, Morris, Ian, Brown, Harrison.... They can have any 2 or any 3 of those guys for all I care so long as they play ball and do a juicy trade with us concerning another position. All I care about keeping is Best, unless of course they want to pay for a premium RB, that way we could have 2 spots open for either wire players or Caleb in the upcoming supp draft.

EDIT: Also in correction of a previous mistake I made where I mentioned I wanted to draft DaQuan Bowers, I have to clear up the inconsistency with my post. I said I wanted to draft Bowers in place of Leshoure, which if we are going back in time to the moment we traded up for Leshoure, well I had it pegged as a belief that the reports were accurate of TB wanting Bowers, so if we were going from that point I would have paid the price to trade up a few spots higher than Leshoure to get 1 spot ahead of TB to get Bowers, however if we were going through normal time then I would have simply taken Bowers in place of Titus Young, cause I did not expect him to fall quite that far and would not have known if somebody would scoop up Bowers before TB. So my Rd 2 pick would have naturally been Bowers, and our 3rd round pick without a trade would have been certainly either LB Mason Foster or WR Jernigan. Which of those 2 would have come down to final scouting or coach's decision if they came out even in the end. I would have leaned towards Foster because I would be confident of finding a cheap nice value WR another way if I wasn't happy with our in-house options. So just wanted to clear that up.

Terrelle Pryor works out for 17 teams

Representatives from the Redskins, Saints, Buccaneers, Cowboys, Chargers, Browns, Lions, Eagles, Raiders, Dolphins, Bengals, Bills, Chiefs, 49ers and Patriots also attended the workout, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported.

Cards just raised Calvin Johnson's next paycheck with the deal they gave Fitzgerald. Very front-loaded 8 yr/$120M deal with $50M guaranteed. In reality it's about 6 years $90M with voidables and incentives. So much for free agent spending in Detroit next summer

uh yeah, that sucks. Calvin is a major part of the future here and is going to command a huge payday. He's too good to not give money too though. damn you Fitz!

It's not Fitz's fault, it's the system that sucks. We should not be living in a world where somebody can get a contract like that to play football for a living. It's asinine. It was the responsibility of the owners and the league to help combat this by striking a good deal and they caved and gave the players WAY too much yet again.

Jordan Palmer just got cut. I was kind of surprised cause I thought CIN was going to keep him as the 3rd QB to open the season just so that if Carson reports he would specifically be taking his brother's job along with it. I though CIN would do that cause I don't think Gradkowski or Lefevour are that exciting to keep, they'd be better off with 2 fresh QB gambles, so I'm surprised they didn't use Jordan to play more games to try and scare away Carson from possibly reporting. I think CIN wants him to report to still play him or to swallow some pride and trade him. Looks like Carson will have to report for sure now, maybe he will end up being the starter in Week 1 now? lol the NFL is like a manly soap opera!

RIP Tom Kowalski. Covered the Lions forever and recently was a big part of Michigan sports talk radio on 96.1 on the West side. Really seemed to be closely connected to the team. 51 years old.....man

Basically hes a five time Pro-Bowl center who got beat out by a younger/cheaper Center in Dallas under Jason Garrets watch. Could be good for depth

So I find it interesting the Pryor is appealing his suspension, and I think he is going to win it.

My thought when I first heard about the suspension was that RG was acting on behalf of the NCAA, which is so not his job. RG didn't really have any reason to suspend Pryor, and I hope he wins, just to send a message, but we shall see.

I also heard rumblings that Pryor had to accept the suspension to get into the supplemental draft, and now he's going back on his agreement. The more I think about it, this seems like a classic Al Davis/Raiders move. He could be making Pryor appeal the suspension just to stick it to the NFL. I love Undead Al for his obsession with speed players, and his willingness to fight the NFL.

He's not going back on his agreement, he accepted it at the time, and now he's changed his mind and chose to reject it. But he did accept it as asked when asked to fulfill the obligation that the NFL requested, that's their fault if they didn't contract for something that fits closer to what they actually intended. That's the NFLs number 1 weak point; is not understanding the big picture and the fine print and how to manage the two in concert with each other. They're a haplessly run organization under Goodell.

Well their first mistake was the contract that paid him too much, that was not a good idea. They knew they were going to draft a franchise QB, or they shouldn't have drafted Gabbert then. They left themselves in no-man's land just like every other team frequently does with expensive players and that's a surefire way to create a disaster, it's either going to happen or is at too risk of happening, and neither one is good for business.

I was thinking they would try and have a Farve/Rodgers scenario, Gerrard starts, and Gabbert sits, but instead they decided to save 9 million.

I agree with the 49ers statement as well, I don't see how that doesn't happen.
