Today, I decided to begin an accocation with the current Wolves (including rookies) on 2K11. I only had the intention of simming a couple season, letting management take care of the team for me. I simmed the first season and I was somewhat surprised of our win status, somewhere in the 30's. So I simmed some more seasons. Kevin Love grew to become a bright star for the team. His highest overall rating was 92. Then came Derrick Williams.
D Will Rock blossomed into an absolute superstar. He reached the overall of 96. Sadly, we later traded away Rubio, who would lead the league in assists.
At the end of 7 years of simulation, a huge free agency came and I took advantage of it. As a team, we were so far under the cap that I was able to sign both Enes Kanter (who's overall was 91 at the time) and Weaver (PG who's overall was 90 at the time). I ended up having four 90 overall's on my team (Love, Williams, Kanter, Weaver). Mid-way through a fantastic season, we traded Wes Johnson for Johnathan Augustin (SG who's overall was 86).
We ended up making the playoffs as the second seed in the West. We swept the Spurs, then fought a close series against the Warriors, but eventually won. The Kings were up next. We held on until game 7; that's when I decided to play at last.
The game went back and forth for three and a half quarters. However, the Kings took a commanding 5 point lead with just under a minute to go in the fourth quarter. Augustin attempted to fade with his shot, but to no success. Luckily, Kanter was there for the rebound and putback. 3 point game with 40 seconds to go. We get the stop we needed and I pass it to Williams, who calmly drills in the clutch three pointer to tie. One of the King's players manages to get fouled and he sinks in both free throws. 2 point game, 10 seconds to go. I gave the rock to my man D Will; he stood beyond the three in an iso. Looking at the clock, he knew it was time. He raised up for a three and... "Swish". He nailed the game winning buzzerbeater.
But it was not over yet. The stacked Pistons team (Having one 90 overall and five 80's) stood in the way of the NBA championship. The first two games the Piston's won, but we battled back. The Wolves took the Pistons to a game 6, and from there, we won the game, the seiries, and the chamionship by a measly two points.
It took us 8 years to build a contending team and win the chip, according to 2K. Yet I must remind myself... It's just a video game.
