DeMarcus Cousins for Derrick Williams?

OK - I'm just bored.

I saw these names in a bigger trade, and after watching Cousins for a season, would you make this swap?

Cousins is more talented and plays a position of major need, so that's pretty tempting. But it would be pretty risky to add his immaturity to the Beasley dumbass stew that the Wolves have simmering without some serious veteran additions (and a serious head coach hire) beforehand.

I'd pass. The value might be there (I stress might) but I just don't want Cousins. He's had more issues than most veterans in his rookie season, he's lazy (shoots jumpshots instead of going into the post, for example) and would add another horrible defender to a team that's overflowing with them as it is.

Cousins is every bit as talented as people expected. He's also every bit as big of a headcase. There's a reason that teams passed on him in the draft, and he showed it during the season.

I don't want to derail this thread, but I''d trade Williams for Marcin Gortat before Cousins. I believe we could at least get an additional asset in that kind of trade (like Morris).

Ehhh...I guess I wouldn't do that...but I do like Gortat. I just feel he's a bit old for our core, and he's just a slightly above average center.

Cousins is talented but he wasn't particularly good last year. He definitely wasn't worth his attitude issues.

What is happening lately here with Derrick Williams? Why is there this distrust now?
When he was named at the draft for the Wolves people were crazy about him and now I see some doubts and many posts talking about him and the trade possibilities. I haven't seen him much, only a few youtube's videos. I think he will be good for us. The problem is Beasley

Williams for Gortat?! Really?

I wouldn't trade Williams for either, but if shrink had a gun to my head and had to trade Williams, I'd rather choose Gortat. With that said, I never really was that high on Williams.

he's that good of a prospect, that even his immaturity issues (overblown btw) can't really bring down his value.

I think you're overrating him. A sub 50% TS is worrisome for a guy his size, even as a rookie.

his shot selection was very questionable, but that can be blamed on his team's situation (lots of gunners, no floor leader, playing out of position) and him being a rookie. still he has a much higher chance of being a superstar/franchise player than D-Will and that's where the gap in value comes from.

There's also a higher chance of him being a worthless pile. I think he's a guy who needs to be on veteran team to reach his potential. He's just not disciplined enough, he needs to be around people who can keep him focused.
