Dolgopolov looked really good but Djoker is the man right now. He had all the chance in the world to lose the 1st set at 6-6 and 4-0 in the tiebreak but his determination and coolness just turned the game around.

Champions' game right there.

Ivanovic lost to Serena, it looks like this is Serena's to lose as always.

Ferrero lost :(

Roddick vs David Ferrer today, a tough test for Roddick's credentials.

Petkovic will probably end up with the puppet women's #1 ranking at some point

(How was I 'glaringly wrong'? Nadal made the final. He dominated Djokovic for a portion of the final, but ultimately did not play up to his normal level [which Uncle Toni attributed to nervousness]. There is nothing wrong with my opinion of Wimbledon not matching the outcome. Did my expectation of Nadal winning offend you?

So far in this US Open Nadal has played at a higher level than Djokovic and Federer. I have no doubt he will win this US Open, and move a step closer to achieving something Borg, Connors, Agassi, Sampras, Federer never could - winning each slam twice, with only a 2nd Australian Open remaining for Nadal. Sorry if my opinion isn't following your basic communication rules [which don't appear to be part of the realgm rules]

Anyway, more important things to discuss at this US Open than who I think will win. The Final has been scheduled for Monday-

Nadal flexes muscles on and off the court

(Reuters) - Rafa Nadal flexed his muscles at the U.S. Open Thursday with a show of power rarely seen in the modern game.

Showing no mercy against his unseeded opponent, the Spaniard stormed into the quarter-finals with a ruthless display then led a player revolt that pressured organizers into rearranging the schedule after the two previous days were washed out by rain. The defending champion was quick to express his displeasure after weather delays left him facing the daunting prospect of having to win four matches in as many days to retain his title. "That's not fair, but that's what it is," Nadal growled after thrashing Luxembourg's Gilles Muller 7-6 6-1 6-2 in a little over two hours. "If you don't have rest, you have a big chance not (to) be fit enough to play well (in) the next match."

Within hours, the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) announced they had bowed to the player's demands. The women's final, originally scheduled for Saturday, was put back a day, while the men's championship decider was shifted from Sunday, the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, to Monday, marking the fourth year in a row the last major of the year has gone into overtime. "We revised the schedule for the remainder of the 2011 U.S. Open in an effort to be fair to the players and our ticketholders," tournament director Jim Curley said in a statement. But not all the players were impressed with the decision, including world number one and title favorite, Serbian Novak Djokovic.

(Notice how Nadal delayed his entry onto the court.....Usually players walk out within 10 seconds of each other. Nadal waited about a minute so the applause for Roddick had died down. Then when Nadal did walk out he received twice the applause Roddick had. One of the commentators said this was gamesmanship...it's quite a sophisticated idea. And then during warmups the announcer introduced the players and Nadal again received the louder cheer. Nadal also appeared to receive more crowd support than Murray at wimbledon his year in semi-final, and more support than Federer in 2008 wimbledon final)

(Djokovic just doesn't have the form to do that. Nadal is the best player in this event. Interestingly, their rivalry is closest on hardcourts where Djokovic needed a 3rd set tie-breaker to beat Nadal at Miami 2011, and Nadal also won the 1st set at Indian Wells 2011. Djokovic can't afford to lose the 1st set in a slam match, considering Nadal has only ever lost one match in his slam career after winning the 1st set [2007 to Ferrer at US Open]. Whereas Nadal has frequently lost best-of-3 matches after winning the 1st set. I think opponents are owned mentally in slams by the prospect of having to win 3 of the next 4 sets)

I bet he still loses, but Fed in this US Open to this point is the best I've seen him in a while. Looks very fresh

Motherf**ker!! Second year in a row Federer has match points and he f**king BLOWS IT!! :x

His record of 182-0 when leading 2-0 in sets in a match and now Roger's lost 2 straight in a grandslam to make it 182-2 ughhhh. Federer is done winning slams I think and I can't believe this is the first year in how long that Roger hasn't one at least one slam in a tennis season??!??!?!

Sad to see Fed lose, but he's had his time, ultimately, and he deserved to lose for those errors. And I think Nadal would've beat him in the Finals. Fed did his job already this year stopping a Djokovic 4-0 majors sweep, which with his record would've locked in the GOAT season. No matter what Djokovic does the rest of the year, I'm putting it this year as an 'equal' to Fed's best in dominance

That Djokovic winner on the 1st match point was the "you're not winning this match" FU point Federer used to hit. I'm glad Djokovic had an up against the ropes moment like this if this is to be a GOAT season. Hopefully we see a legendary final, though I have a gut feeling Murray might be playing him

Right from the 3rd set I knew Djoker had this match sealed. You sometimes just know when a player has lost it before the game is even decided and Federer lost it long before that 5th set break. Just a matter of when not how.

Brilliant from Djoker though, he's showing the composure of a legendary player.

Epic match between Fed-Djoker. Such mixed feelings.

Love to see Djoker win a match like that, but the stronger feeling is probably sadness at seeing Fed lose a match like that. With Fed being where he is in his career, there now becomes the risk of him starting to coast or quit.

Food for thought:

Fed's been probably the 4th best men's player this year. He won 20 matches in majors while having his worst year in obviously a long time.

For perspective, Wozniacki leads the women's side this year with 15 major match wins so far.

As a Federer fan, this one hurts. I have to imagine it's his most painful loss ever, because that's definitely the case for me as a fan. Two match points on your serve, that return winner, and all that after being up 2-0... it can't get more painful than that.
