Re: Fantasy Football Thread
Rogers and Brees set the bar tonight for first week QB performances. (I'm happy to say Brees was mine... unfortunately, so was GB's defense...)

Re: Fantasy Football Thread
Just had my FF draft. Picked 8th, terrible position, was faced with the decision of Mcfadden or Mendenhall. I went Mcfadden. My justifications were that DMC had the 3rd highest point per game total last year for all RB's and I'm a pretty big believer in the 375 rule...if a player has more than 375 touches the year before he historically has a steep fall off the subsequent season-Mendy had like 420 touches last year. Seems as I'm in the minority with this pick and now I'm fretting. What would you have done? Take one of these RBs or go a different direction and take an elite WR , who were all available.

Re: Fantasy Football Thread
I have Marques Colston in one of my leagues, I usually stay away from New Orleans receivers because they have so many effective ones that you never know who will catch the ball. Anyway Colston earned me a measly 6 pts yesterday after Brees threw for the moon and the stars. I should have stuck to my guns. smh to make matters worse I had GB RB Starks on the bench this week smh^2

If Vick or Rogers were on the board, I would have grabbed one of them. McFadden is a talented back who can put up points, but he also has reoccuring injury issues and tends to give you less than 16 games. That and, with the 8th pick in a snake draft, you probably could have snagged him with your next pick.

I feel your pain about Colston but hopefully he will get more looks in the coming weeks.

I too would have gone for Rogers or Vick if they were on the board, although personally I wouldn't take Vick if he were available in the 16th round. Failing that, you could have considered A. Johnson or Roddy White and then taken a RB on the other side. By the way, Illuminaire is bludgeoning me so far this week but even if I have a loss this week I still feel very good about my team.

Don't let Ben fool you. His team is sick nasty. The only "bludgeoning" that's happened is two more of my guys have played than his.
I'm not feeling the least bit confident until I see what Peterson does against San Diego.

Re: Fantasy Football Thread
there seems to be a trend of teams with medicore passing attacks throwing all the live-long day even though there's solid ground support available. colt mccoy threw it 40 times and hillis only got 17 touches. vick threw it 32 times and mccoy only rushed 15 times. Roethilsberger tossed it 42 times and mendenhal only got 12 carries. Indy, albeit trailing for the entire game, only ran the ball 15 times total. Seattle let tavaris jackson throw 37 times and only gave marshawn 13 carries. these are 66/33 or greater splits.

Re: Fantasy Football Thread
After avoiding FF for many years and only having one team two years ago and zero teams last year, this year I have ten teams. I think I will end up the week 5-5. However, I have Colston and Nate Kaeding on a few of those teams so that isn't good as well as a pending trade for Steven Jackson and who knows how long he is out.

Part of it is the NFL is moving to move of a passing friendly league. The other issue is I think O-Lines need a little time to gel to run block well. The Skins ran a limited number of run plays(a whole lot of Hightower outside left), with very mediocre results.

Did anyone see any dark horses yesterday/good free agent pick ups? I know it's only one game but I remember grabbing Boldin after one game and being glad I did. I suppose Cam Newton or Ryan Fitzpatrick could fit the bill.

Re: Fantasy Football Thread
Fitzpatrick is a safer bet than Newton. Arizona has a secondary that might not start in some college programs. For a keeper league, grab Newton. Otherwise I'd stay away. There's no way he's consistent enough to actually play in your QB slot this year.
How many people are in your league, Wes? If it's a deep league (12 players), I like grabbing backups to injury prone (or recently injured) starters.
Ben - Sorry that trade isn't through yet. The end of the review period was just after the Thurs night game, and that locked one of the players down. I can't uphold the trade until after all the players are unlocked after the two game tonight.

No problem. It was just a timing thing. In any event, Jackson got hurt early in the game and he'll probably be out at least a few more weeks. But I can't help myself, I like making deals which is part of the fun. Congrats on your first week win. Hopefully the results might be different in another meeting.

Dude, I dodged a bullet. You had a down week from a couple players, and I may have had Forte's best week of the season already.
Brady has too many weapons this year. Wow. Just wow.

Early Doucet WR Cards
Mike Thomas WR Jags
Fred Davis TE Redskins
Jimmy Graham TE NO
Gresham TE Cincy
Keep an eye on Greg Little for the Browns too, he only had 1 catch for 12 yards but he could do this yr what Mike Williams from Tampa did last year

Re: Fantasy Football Thread
Before the Ravens game, my team was up more than fifty points. All my opponent had left was the Ravens D/ST. Easy win, right?
Lead is down to twenty points. This is not cool at all. -.-
