Hang in there!

Not quite "wonderful", but it's all good. I'm really hoping this'll give me a chance to watch some more Finals series of the 80s in any case. ;)

I won't be around this weekend and may not have internet access when next a thread needs to be posted at 10P Friday night. Hopefully someone else will step up and take over, if not I will get to it when I can even if that might be Sunday night.

Hopefully Baller24 can work free of his RL entanglements and come back too.

Thanks everyone,
Dave

A few thoughts:

(1) When are people going to stop questioning results without looking at the arguments? It's like dropping into a science form and criticizing the results of a research paper without reading the actual study.

(2) I think the voting method could be creating discrepancies of upward to 10 voting spots compared to other possible methods. It's clear that there is extreme fracturing among the voting, and I'm now noticing enormous gaps in my rankings and where people are being voted in. Something to keep in mind for next time...

Yeah, guys coming in and just chiming with your opinion without any support, I don't mean to mean but:

No one cares.

This isn't a statement of "we're smarter than you", but a statement that it really never does any good for an anonymous person to just chime in with a bare bones opinion. The people in projects like this often put in a TON of work and can give you great insight into several ways of thinking. Read them and respond accordingly. If you can rebut them well, then all of us welcome your thoughts. If you can't, then you need to spend more time reading what more informed people think and less making off the cuff statements about people being wrong.

Well that marks the first player inducted who I personally would not put in the HOF (Tmac).

Unfortunately, I'm probably going to discontinue voting on this project. I've lost a lot of time at work with my injury, and between trying to catch up and perform rehab, I haven't had the chance to spend time on RealGM.

I also don't feel like I was contributing much to the discussion even before my injury. Unlike last time (2008), when I went through all the arguments carefully when considering my ballot, I haven't been dedicating too much time this time around (which is unfortunate because the discussion has been excellent!). Because of this, and the understanding I'll be able to dedicate less time going forward, I thought it would be better if I just withdrew so that I wouldn't dilute the vote.

Thanks for letting me participate again, and sorry for flaking out!

If you catch up to where you are comfortable and want to return, just let us know. Meanwhile, rehab and relax.

Not enough love for earlier players imo. Too heavily weighted in favor of the 90's.

The criteria used doesn't appear to be all that consistent. If you put Wilt 5th, it does not make sense to also put Havlicek, Isiah Thomas, and Barry after Patrick Ewing.

We sure flipped in a hurry from "How is he being voted on so low?" to "How is he being voted on so high?" somewhere in the early-mid 30s.

I'm sure we all have our exceptions (Cousy and to some extent McHale for me, Squid for Penbeast, etc.), but that's the general vibe right now.

Maybe the dark-period MVPs -- Cowens, Reed, Unseld, et al. -- were better than we're giving them credit for right now.

The Dark Period? lol . . . I'd rather call it the "competitive period" where no one NBA team took 3 or more titles for a long stretch from Russell's Celtics to the Bird/Magic rivalry.
