18pts on 8/11FG 2/2 FT 2reb 1ast 2TO 4 fouls in 18 minutes. No steals or blocks.
Kevin was better than anyone in Spain's frontcourt. That is a pretty good line against Marc and Pau Gasol and Serge Ibaka. That Spanish team is ridiculously talented!
It would be great if Kevin wound up more of a PF. If he could shoot a jumper and score a bit, we would be much better defensively with Seraphin at PF than Blatche.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
It's good to hear that his jumper has been falling. If Seraphin develops a jumper, that changes everything. It means he can play some PF, and it'll open up pick-and-pop options for Wall since Seraphin sets such good picks.
He is still very foul prone so he might never be more than a backup, but I wouldn't mind a burly, physical banger in the frontcourt who can play 15-20 minutes a night, rough some guys up, hit a few J's and punish teams in the post if anyone tries to guard him with a weak player.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
There was a great article at Bullets Forever that I thought I'd share. The quotes below come from an OKC writer, so the article is not straight homerism.

http://www.bulletsforever.com/2011/9/11 ... #storyjump
.After seeing what he has to offer tonight, I'd have to agree with his assessment. He's very skilled at scoring in the paint, combining athleticism and a nice touch around the basket. He can just as easily throw it down as he can go for a fancy hook or put in a basic layup. His skill in this area was good enough to overcome Marc Gasol, who had huge troubles trying to guard him. It's hard to ignore a guy who can drain a left handed hook and a turnaround jumper in the face of a Gasol. His jumper doesn't have very much range, and isn't good enough to become a calling card for him in the NBA. He can use it to great effect at short range though, and it only makes him more deadly in the paint
As Gregoire said, it's hard to compare him to a current NBA player. He has the inside moves to deal with the best of them, like a Zach Randolph. But he also carries with him the athleticism of a Serge Ibaka, though not quite the energy level of a Ronny Turiaf. He can defend well half the time, but he can get into foul trouble in the wrong situations. Regardless, he does have the skill set to be in the NBA, and it's just a matter of time before he sees extended action

I agree totally with this response to the Bulletsforever article above on Seraphin's play:
I also totally agree with this response:
My hope is if there is no season that Ernie and Flip are replaced, and that a coach that will make sure big guys play big gets hired. IMO Flip should have played Seraphin when he was wasting time playing Yi. Seraphin should have played with McGee some. Likewise, the year before Flip should have played McGee some when Oberto was playing.
What would make the Wizards much better would be if McGee was forced into become a more complete player. I've seen him feed the post despite his few assists. Seraphin is a banger on the block, unlike Blatche, who's more finesse. Flip played finesse with finesse all the time and he didn't experiment with offense from a banger/dunker. Makes me feel pretty sure he's not the coach for these personnel.
... he was more atheletic @Cholet then I've seen him al yr in DC
He was even known for a little shotblocking back then.
A good lowpost banger with some offensive skill could be a good compliment to McGee’s above the rim play. As for quicker PF’s, McGee can guard those. I’d like to see him with Javale, not replacing him. Bit like why Booker and Javale suited better than Blatche and Javale. Blatche needs someone like a Marc Gasol or Cole Aldrich…. Think we can trade NDiaye for him maybe?

I just hope that
Flip gives him a chance. That’s one thing you didn’t have to worry about with Eddie Jordan, he gave the big men chances down low (and we are talking about Brendan Haywood and Etan Thomas here…)
Will Flip go to Seraphin offensively when he’s in the game? Or will he settle for his usual guard oriented game making big men come out to get the ball away from the rim?
I really wanted to see the ball give to Booker in the post last season but rarely saw it. Same with Seraphin. Hope that turns around this season. The closer you are to the rim, the more pressure you put on defenses, especially when you got two big bangers who can put the ball in the hoop like Seraphin and Booker.

CCJ, agree completely. Unfortunately Flip's background points purely to a jumpshot oriented offense. I don't think he's the right guy for our current personnel either.
Seraphin/McGee should have seen a LOT of time together last year if they are our future. Blatche is no longer developing, he is what he is...

How the hell can you say that? Do you expect someone to play up to their potential when they're out of shape, out of rhythm, and unhealthy the whole season? It's not possible. And he's only 25, and last season was his first full year starter. I think it's VERY premature to say Blatche "is what he is."
I can't wait for Dray to prove all the haters wrong this season.

I hope to be wrong, but generally players show what they are by 25.

So are you really saying you don't expect him to be better this season after SUPPOSEDLY getting in shape, getting healthy, and maturing a little?
And I think Blatche is an exception to that "players peak around 25" generalization.

Sounds like some Kwame Brown logic.

It's interesting -- I don't know if anyone else noticed but when Kevin Love was getting accolades for being a great rebounder a light bulb went off in Blatch's head (this is toward the end of the season). I think he finally realized that a power forward will get props if he pounds the boards. Blatch did a good job as the season ended and I expect he will come back in good shape and ready to avg. 11+ a game.

He really picked up toward the end. As a long time Bullards fan, I try to catch myself grasping at fool's gold: it was during an essentially meaningless stretch, and it looked kind of like other ever-so-brief glimpses he's psyched us with over the years. But maybe part of it was injury and being out of shape, and maybe he really can grasp that he's most effective inside, and maybe he will be worth that contract, and maybe we can put together a package for Howard, and maybe I will win the lottery, and...

Re: Kevin Seraphin
I hope Kevin is able to stay on the court for longer stretches next time we play basketball. His brawn does seem like a good complement to our players.
He's going to have to be a completely different player from last year, however. He was always a step slow and a reaction short, and that resulted in all of the fouls and fumbles.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
Noah has played nearly the enitre first half of the smi-final. Ali Traore seems to have wrested the backup C role from Seraphin; Kevin had a DNP in the first half. Traore played about 3 mins. Hopefully we see Kevin in the second and in the finals against Spain's bigs if France holds on.

Close game against Russia, 39-34 France. I wish I could see it while at-work.

This morning, Kevin Seraphin said he had signed with a Euroleague team.
“I had two proposals and that’s it, I made my decision. I will announce after the Euro.”
We know that one of these two proposals is to Cholet and the other comes from a Spanish team that will play in the Euroleague.

Good News, I hope he gets plenty of playing-time.

It's likely Cholet, his old squad. Now let's just hope he comes back! Possible he could play so well they can pay him more than his 3rd year rookie NBA wage.

KS sitting with 3 fouls early in the 2nd quarter. Good strategy to use KS's hacking early so-as to save Noah and Torre for later. May not matter the way the game is going.

Dray was very foul prone also. He grow out of it.
Just keep developing the young pups. Who plays were will work out in time.
