I don't think he'll be able to cover Lebron no matter how well he does - not just because of the height difference, but because Lebron also has at least 30 pounds on him. But fortunately, Carmelo has a history of doing a good job on Lebron so we've already got our Lebron-stopper.

I think it's gonna be interesting to see if we go and get another back up PG. I think we will and should add either Delonte, Ford or Tinsley for the minimum, as an insurance.

There were a handful of rookies here, but Shumpert was hands-down the best of the bunch. His athleticism was impressive, but he showed the ability to knock down jumpers as well which would make him an extremely tough cover in the coming years. He had 25 points and six rebounds.

Shump really owned him on some moves there. Very impressive and top notch Dunk.

Lol damn, I was just about to post this. So are they streaming these impact league games or what? I haven't been checking the boards much lately. I really would love to see these games in full.

"Alex Kennedy
First of all, Iman Shumpert is a point guard. While he can play some minutes at shooting guard and defend the two, he’s adamant that he’ll be a point guard in the NBA. I was extremely impressed by his athleticism, length, speed and work ethic. I’ve went to IMG several times this summer and he’s always the first player in the gym or weight room. He has put on 10 lbs. of muscle to his upper body since the draft and he’s really working hard to improve his jump shot. He’s doing a ton of shooting drills and then comes back to the gym later in the day, after everyone has left, to shoot some more. I think Shumpert was an excellent pick and the fans in New York are going to love him."

Thats from Alex Kenedy's chat from Hoopsworld.com.

Great to hear. I'm excited about this kid.

I still think he'll probably be a 2. And Kennedy doesn't support his "Shumpert is a point guard" claim other than citing Shumpert's own opinion. Nice to hear the good review, though.

The "10 Ibs of muscle" thing reminds me of when Anthony Randolph supposedly did that too, but I like the report.

Every athlete ever has put on 10lbs of muscle in a few weeks over the course of their career it seems. I remember when they said Crawford did it too.

Shump was already kind of a beefy dude before the draft if he's actually gained more muscle I hope it doesn't take away from his overall quickness. He wasn't a guy known for his first step anyway so possibly his instincts, athleticism and body control will allow him to still be effective on players smaller than him when guarding the 1.

Yeah, offseason workout stories usually don't turn out to have much substance.

I wouldn't say beefy. I hear beefy I think of someone stout like Ray Felton or Baron Davis. He's ripped though definitely...

all this "10 lbs of muscle" is pretty must useless now, since he's going to lose it once the season starts.

let's hope bill walker doesn't show up looking like warren sapp

His reported weight before the draft was 220, that's pretty beefy for a guy who's 6-4 without shoes. There are guys 5 inches taller who weigh that. Beef refers to muscle and he's beefy. The guys who have issues with their weight and not because of muscle aren't ones I'd call beefy, they'd be called flabby. Those that are stout could be beefy or could be flabby, each one is different though.

Isn't Bill Walker a UFA? If he does go Shawn Kemp on us, we should show him to the door . . .

I thought we picked up his option, which was only a few hundred thousand.
