Re: NFL Week 1: NON PACKERS
McFadden not pushing that last 5 yard stretch cost me a fantasy game.

Re: NFL Week 1: NON PACKERS
I'd love to see if any site tracks personal foul penalties by teams and by how many the Raiders would lead the NFL over the last 10-15 years?
Speaking of the Raiders, McFadden has become a really good NFL running back and better than i thought he would. Watching him in college, i thought McFadden was a bit to stiff in the hips to avoid lots of huge hits and thus lots of injuries would constantly plague him.

Stuff like this of a big reason why i bored of fantasy football even though i love playing fantasy baseball and basketball.
IMO touchdowns are just to over-valued in fantasy football, nothing else comes anywhere close in importance. A guy can make a fabulous run and get tackled at the one yard line, yet if he needs a rest, the backup gets six point for a one yard run. A WR can have say 7 catches for 117 yards with no touchdowns, yet a different receiver can catch 3 balls for 42 yards, but if two were TD's, he gets credited for more points.
That and i always had a hard time drafting any guys from the Vikings, Bears, or Cowboys because i hate those teams and didn't want to cheer for their players.

Wow, since i don't watch Oakland much, i never knew that former Badger Matt Shaughnessy has developed into as good of a DE as he seems to have become. In fact, i remember being surprised when Oakland took Shaughnessy so high, top of the 3rd round in 2009. He seemed more a 5th round value to me at the time.
In college he was effective, but i thought he'd be to gangly and lacking in burst to be more than a backup in the NFL. Very glad to see i was wrong about him, he's played really well tonight.

I actually swore off fantasy football years back because of that. At the time, when analysis wasn't as readily available, I'd always have a stacked team but get pissed when losing to a guy that had 3 goal line plunges.
I got over that, but I do really hate overvaluing the TD still. There are just a ton of boring players that people draft and appreciate in there that are worthless compared to McFadden, etc. It actually is a winning strategy because that is what a lot of the experts say -- don't chase a high TD total from a guy the year before that isn't elite and such...but it still screws you a lot.
I just hate listening to a friend touting a team of Kuhn-esque players. I had such a good draft! Tolbert (admittedly, he is a crafty/strong RB), Snelling! Those guys contribute a ton to their team but have nowhere near the value of a feature back, but they end up making a killing in fantasy.

About 4-5 years ago i was in a league that counted a TD to be worth only four points and i found that league much more compelling to play. It made having guys like Kuhn as you mentioned less valuable and it also gave more credit for yards gained be it running backs or wide receivers compared to touchdowns. That way if partially by pure coincidence some backs or receivers gained lots of yards over a season, but didn't rack up a bunch of touchdowns, those guys were still given a value more closely to their overall production compared to a league which scores a TD as worth six points. After that league eventually fell apart, i simply had a hard time playing again by typical fantasy football scoring and i gave up playing it since.
It's just to wrong IMO for goal line backs to rack up the points they do for sometimes getting 12-14 points after gaining say 4-10 yards because two were touchdowns while the starting back gains 90-110 yards with no TD's, and thus gets significantly fewer points. It would kinda be like playing in a points based fantasy baseball league and giving 10 points for wins and the same 10 points for a save, potentially making good one inning closers more valuable than good starting pitchers. I know this because i played in a baseball league for money with a scoring setup like that.
I understand in all cases it's fantasy sports, not real football or baseball, but dumb scoring rules just bother me for whatever reason. Plus, i love football so much that i just got sick of sometimes caring more about what guys on my fantasy team did while watching games compared to the game itself, especially if the league was for money that this also steered me away from playing. I'd be in a league for money and say watching a great Sunday/Monday night game, yet i'd have such a focus instead on what a player or two from my fantasy team was doing that i'd get pissed off if my player was either not racking up points or not getting in the endzone, which in turn was taking away from my ability to simply fully enjoy a fabulous NFL game like i now do since i gave up fantasy football.

Re: NFL Week 1: NON PACKERS
Brandon Lloyd (groin) and Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) will both have MRIs Tuesday after coming up lame late in Monday's loss to the Raiders.
Maybe the whole team should have an MRI?

Dominguez has been on the active roster since Oct. 12th, when Collins was placed on IR.
