Wayne Hunter again...I know he had two guys, but at least keep an eye out on both of them.

That and a whole lot of luck from special teams, but I'm sure they'll take it.

UGLY, WILD WIN, but we made plays when we had to. good teams do that. Sanchez at times looked amazing and other times like a rookie QB.... One thing we really need is a pass rusher, we can't get pressure unless we blitz, I still see that as a problem.. and what happened to our running game?

also not all that high on our Saftey's they blew quite a few coverages......Poole needs to replace Smith

running game needs to step up also

as TKF stated we have nobody on the D-Line who can put pressure on the QB, think this is going to be a big issue

Running game was awful, Hunter looked pathetic (though Ware is a problem for everyone), Sanchez was hot and cold, Mason really didn't give much of anything, our safeties and Cro got abused...That's the negatives...

Positives: Keller was the spark he should be every game, Plax was a deep threat all game, Joe Mcknight showing anything is a step up, Revis Island needed to give up one catch to fully activate but was great, LT was a HUGE piece of the puzzle catching the ball out of the backfield.

I'm really worried about Hunter and our pass rush. Sanchez did solid things, but really couldn't move the chains well. I liked Holmes' performance despite being a bit under the radar. LOVED the fact that we had no penalties, it'll be a long time until we see that. Folk's kick...man...I was nervous going in but he came through for us on this one.

We got the W and that is the most important thing in Week One. As Rex said in his news conference, there is a lot of work to do but nonetheless it was a big win on a big stage... here are my thoughts on the game...

Positives:
- Despite pedestrian numbers, I feel very good about Shonn Greene as our main back. He looked confident and once we commit to the run more (Jets clearly wanted to attack a depleted Dallas secondary) we should once again be a dominant run team. LT shined in the role as a third down back as expected.
- Sanchez once again showed what makes him so valuable. He will most likely not get numbers in the regular season as guys like Romo but when it counts he is there for the team. He is deadly in the two minute drill and once he gets more comfortable with his new receivers, watch out.
- Our front seven played very well and it will help the team tremendously that backups like Dixon or Pitoitua can come in with the D missing a beat. Our OLBs played well even though none of them can be considered an explosive edge rusher.
- Revis was Revis and it took two miracle catches to beat Cromartie for touchdowns. No concern at all especially considering we faced one of the best receiving trios in the entire league, if not the best with Austin, Bryant and Witten.
- Mo Wilkerson might not have shown up on the stat sheet a whole lot but he played like a seasoned vet. Set the edge well, got push and got off blocks. Just like some other young guys (Wilson, Pito, Westerman) he proved that he will be a valuable contributor this year.
- Nick Folk was clutch once again, just as he was many times last season. Special teams overall were average but Westhoff's crew made one of the plays of the game.
- Keller and Cumberland will be a load to handle for every opposing defense, hopefully Schottenheimer will use them adequatly.

Negatives:
- Wayne Hunter was a desaster. Even though some of it had to do with questionable playcalling and a lack of TE help, he better gets up to speed quickly. Ware can dominate a lot of players and Hunter has shown he is a solid RT but I hope his performance wont hurt his confidence going forward.
- Derrick Mason looked every bit of those 37 years. I hope he can turn it around as we definitely need him to step up. Kerley didnt look ready and against better secondaries we need our slot receiver to get seperation.
- Our safety play was atrocious. Eric Smith still cant cover and Leonard is coming off a big injury. Once Pool was inserted the secondary looked much better but the bottom line remains that our safeties are very flawed. That could once again hurt us all year when facing talented tight ends.
- As said here earlier, we still lack some athletisism in the front seven. I still dont know why we cut Aaron Maybin (well, I know propably special teams is the reason but nobody can tell me that we dont have enough good players there) as he would have given us a speedster up front who on passing downs would have clearly helped. I mean we are big and nasty upfront but when the blitz is picked up, we struggle to get pressure. Westerman is a guy I have some hope for, he is a fine pass rusher who needs more opportunities.
- The lack of offensive rythmn was a big concern early on. I mean we still run horrible patterns at times (like ending up short of the first down numerous times), we didnt protect well and we couldnt get anybody open. For this team to take the next step, the offense has to perform better and not put the defense into a hole every freaking game. While the D didnt play well, we can thank them that the game was even close going into halftime.

Overall we can be happy with the win, a lot of things need to be corrected but we have a great coaching staff that will take care of that. J-E-T-S baby!!!
Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies...
