Gun to my head? Yes.

Mostly because I think his skillset will go better with the starting unit rather than that I foresee him being a better all around player off the bat.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Iman take over the starting SG spot as he probably brings more to the table and is more of a SG than Fields, who is more of a SF, but he can play. SG. I wouldn't be surprised to see Iman starting eventually with Fields becoming the backup SF playing some SG as well.

He looks tall, maybe not as tall as Kobe, but he has good size for a two.

Ah, ok. How much do they usually give you for your official height? Is it a 1 or 1.5 inch bonus?

I think a lot depends on Shumpert's shooting. He's seems to be more physically gifted than Fields (and I'm sure he can defend 2's better than Fields can), but Fields shot 39% on 3's, so who knows how close Shumpert can come to matching that production from outside.

And Fields is probably working hard to improve his game too.

There is no "bonus" that the NBA gives you. I'm pretty sure players themselves tell the league office what they'd like to be listed as. But for the in-shoes measurement at the combine, I guess it just depends on the shoes. Some people get +1, some more, some less.

I believe barefoot, Kobe is 6'4.75 and Shumpert is 6'4.25. Height isn't THAT important IMO once you hit the average ranges (6'4+ (in-shoes) for a SG). Wingspan is a more important trait at that point. Shumpert's isn't bad at 6'9.5", but Kobe's, I believe is close to 7'0. He's got some long pterodactyl arms.

Iman Shumpert is draining the mid-range jumper over DeRozan. Good handle. Good elevation #nbalockout @impactbball #knicks

Shumpert goes baseline, uses his body to shed DeRozan and hits another j. #nbalockout @impactbball #knicks

Damon Jones just walks over to Shumpert during a timeout and says to him, "You're f----n him up." LOL #nbalockout @impactbball #knicks

Yes, there is. It's called "how tall you are while wearing shoes." Every single listed height on yahoo.com includes it.

Shumpert on what makes him unique: "I appreciate both sides of the ball a little more than everybody else." @impactbball #knicks #nbalockout
"We’ll find a way to either make him a very useful player in our organization, or whatever"

Shumpert = the next Wade? Athletic, strong guard who plays good defense and has a good handle, good body control, not known for his shot coming out of college?

that's funny he's going mano-a-mano with Derozan because I figured they're kind of similar, although I think Derozan struggles with his handle and Iman seems like he has pretty good handle.

eh, let's not get ahead of ourselves. There are a lot of athletic guards that come into the league that aren't Dwyane Wade.

Dwyane Wade was pretty proven in college too. He had a remarkable run with Marquette in the tourney.
