eh, let's not get ahead of ourselves. There are a lot of athletic guards that come into the league that aren't Dwyane Wade.

lies. And I forgot they both have big wingspan too.

Wade, despite being slightly shorter, has a longer wingspan. That's what allows him to play SG so effectively. Shumpert's wingspan was what concerned me initially because you could visibly see it's not on par with guys like Kobe, Wade, Evans, Vince, T-Mac, etc...His wingspan's a little closer to average relative to his height and not freak-level. He has a lot of great traits, but his wingspan isn't one of them.

it is not freak level, but it is not bad. Draftexpress says it's 6'9.5" which is pretty good especially considering he can jump through the roof.

It's decent for his height.

Yeah, I mean it's definitely not bad. It's still in the optimal range. I was just trying to put the Wade/Shump comparisons into perspective. Their body types are so different which sort of dictates their play styles. TBH, Shump's body type is more similar to a shorter LeBron James. Or a slightly taller Steve Francis. That's really the player I'd compare him too. It's eerie how similar Shump is to Steve Francis. At least IMO.

Shumpert's body type is a lot closer to Wade than it is to Francis.

Agreed. Stevie was skinny as a youngin...and kinda fat as a vet...No where near as jacked as Shump.

If shumps body close is to anybody i would say Kobe Bryant mixed with Ben Gordan.

How? Wade has a freak-level wingspan. His leaping ability is above average but not freak-level. Francis on the other hand was a freak athlete. Very explosive. Stronger that most his height. Decent wingspan but not freak-level. Give him 2 more inches on him and you can call him Iman Shumpert.

Even play style is similar. Both are combo guards with iffy playmaking ability and iffy jumpers. Both attack the rim and rebound well for their position.

I know there's a kind of negative connotation attached to Steve Francis that maybe nobody wants to attribute to Shump, but he was an exceptional athlete and had the potential to be much better than he was.

Huh? Franchize was 6'3 200lbs in his prime. I definitely don't see the Kobe comparison. Kobe's the one that was incredibly skinny. He put on more muscle for a season or so, but he didn't carry weight well and it slowed him down so he he just shed the weight a season or so later. And Kobe was never the athlete Shump is now. Ben Gordon's much bulkier and has a longer wingspan relative to his height.

Really, nobody else sees Franchize? Just me then...

Kobe right now is not skinny, he is jacked. Prob one of the strongest guards in the league over the passed 5 years. Franchise was never a rat in the weightroom like Shump is...Like Kobe is...Like Wade is...etc

Kobe's cut. I don't think he's that jacked. At least not any more than his peers. Shump's much heavier right now than Kobe despite being slightly shorter.

I definitely don't see Wade. He's got crazy long arms. They don't even look remotely similar. I don't think people remember Steve Francis at all around here.

Francis and Shump even move similarly. I don't know where people are getting the Wade comparisons.
