This is actually something I've thought about as well. This would also allow us to keep Omer and Gibson long term. I'd love to make a trade work Eric Gordon, but more realistically it would be more along the lines of Ellis, Iggy, or maybe Kevin Martin.
Kevin Martin is the one guy I can see adding that would really complete this team.
He's not a great defender, but neither was Ray Allen before he got to Boston. But little K-Mart would give us a floorspacer + another guy who can generate efficient points via freethrows. I don't see another guy out there for us who can really do that at the 2 guard spot.
The question is, how much would Martin be worth in a trade, and do we have anything that Houston wants? Judging by the trade deadline, they really wanted Omer Asik, and I doubt that getting Thabeet did anything to change that. But I don't know if you can build a package around Omer + considerations and an expendable player or two gets it done for Houston.
The real question is does Houston want to tank next year? Vets like Martin and Scola are keeping them in contention, but without any superstar talents all of Morey's moves aren't going to move the needle much. But if Houston does decide to go young and cheap, then I'd expect the Bulls to make a pretty strong move.
