UFC 140 (12/10, Toronto): Jones vs. Machida

Post#1 » by CPT » Wed Sep 7, 2011 1:21 am

Since Brock vs. Overeem took over the previous 140 thread, and they've finally announced some fights, I figured I'd start a new one.

Brian Ebersole vs. Rory MacDonald
Rich Attonito vs. Claude Patrick
John Cholish vs. Mitch Clarke

I'd bet MacDonald vs. Ebersole makes the PPV main card, but the other two seem like Facebook prelims.

I want a chance to see The Spider fight once live before he packs it in.

Make it happen!

Not crazy about this matchup, but I'm sure I'll warm up to it as the date gets closer.

Hope that's not the main event, but I'm sure it will be at least co-main.

I still don't think Nog has anything for Mir.

Nog wasn't even fully healthy when he fought Schuab, now he's fighting again in 3 months? I thought they would have saved him for their card in Japan. The winner of this fight will have to wait for the winner of Cain/JDS vs Brock/Reem anyways, so there's no rush to get this fight done.

i'm guessing Mir/Nog will be the co-main event. i have a feeling we're gonna have an interesting lhw battle (or two) also added to this card.

Tito vs. Lil Nog added as well.

Hope there's something better for the top of the card...

this card is sort of shaping up like ufc 119. not necessarily a good thing but we're not finished yet. i like mir vs nog and the macdonald fight, hell i'm even intrigued to see who takes the ortiz/lil nog fight. but i agree with you about the top of the card. i'm hoping for at least two in group of shogun/machida/hendo/davis to be added. or even alexander gustafsson...

I'm crossing my fingers for Anderson vs Hendo. I couldn't care less what weight it's at. I'd settle for Anderson vs a top guy at 205 too.

This bout will not be the main event for UFC 140, and apparently neither will Rogerio's twin brother's either. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's next fight, a rematch vs Frank Mir, is being rumoured as the co-main event of the evening.

So yes apparently neither the Ortiz or Mir fights are the main event. Though Mir and Nogueira's fight is co-main... Be interesting to see what the main event is. My guess is Machida...

Yeah, I'm guessing 2 of the Machida/Davis/Shogun/Hendo group will be squaring off on this card, with the other two on 139.

Might be holding off to see if Anderson Silva wants to get involved.

SIlva's rehabbing a shoulder for the rest of 2011. So says Soares.

Well apparently Silva's nursing an injury and won't fight until early next year. Sucks.

I wonder if it's as serious as the elbow injury he had when there were no guys he wanted to fight.
