Utah compared to Indiana

I made a post comparing Indiana and Utah on the trade forum, but, it went ignored, so I thought I'd come here and bug you folks.

How do you think the two teams compare, position by position, player by player, or just wins and losses this year?

Myself I think the two teams will be pretty close. Might have to do some adjustments to make strength of schedules match up, but, I'm thinking they'll have about the same strength next year.

Here is how I see the Jazz roster

Devin Harris, Earl Watson
CJ Miles, Alec Burks, Raja Bell
Gordon Hayward, (Shane Battier or AK47)
Derrick Favors, Paul Millsap, Jeremy Evans
Al Jefferson, Enes Kanter, Mehmet Okur

I have a hunch we'll sign Battier and let AK walk. But, that's just my gut feeling. More likely is probably just to keep AK. Not really sure what we'll get out of Okur this year, but, he could move up the chart pretty fast if he's playing well and healthy.

My crystal ball isn't seeing any trades oddly enough. I think that roster there is likely what we'll have for the year and look to balance the roster a bit the following year with deals. However, if Okur has value around the league, now would be the time to move him. So, that's a possibility.

So, compare away!

I think most of us are fed up with the lockout/strike and aren't paying our usual summer attention here. I think if we could combine our rosters we'd be very good. we're much better on the wings and you're much better at the four/five even though I wouldn't trade Hibbert even up for any of your guys.

Well, I can't say I blame you for that. 7'2" guys that can walk and chew gum are pretty rare. And Georgetown pedigree to boot.

Is it just fouls that are keeping him from being a 20-10-2 kinda guy?

Mostly conditioning. If he can get into the 30-32 mpg range I don't see why he couldn't be a 17-9-2 player.

Hibbert is doing a lot to switch up his weight, strength, and balance. His height is already an advantage, but his other physical traits are disadvantages. He not only chews gum, but passes well, can block shots, needs to work on his rebounding, but he's not as bad as Brook Lopez in that he hasn't taken steps backward.

If he wants to be a 20-12-2 guy, he needs to become stronger mentally. He can't get down on himself, lose confidence, and let other players push him around. I don't think he was always like this, and I've watched him since his high school days here in DC. But I also don't want to blame Jim O'Brien, because while he was tough on Roy, that shouldn't have been enough to completely tear Roy down and make him retreat into a shell. Mentally, he has to be stronger than that.

The key, i hope Vogel find, is to make Hibbert stay for more than 30mpg. He'll get more productive with increased playing time, but that's the problem last season. Whatever it is that keeps him out from playing significant minutes, fouls, confidence issues, conditioning, whatever. I hope Vogel finds it and make something good about it. Otherwise, we're going to see the same output from him.
With no other center on the roster, stardom is all his to take.

Besides the Pacers Utah is a team that is easy for me to cheer for, especially when you guys had Sloan. I don't know maybe it's the similarities between the two teams, such as we both prefer to build through the draft. We also get the same stereotypes as you guys, like we prefer white players, or that we can't attract f/a's. The latter might be true, but it is also, in part, why we build through the draft. No one can deny the consistency both franchises displayed for nearly two decades.

It is safe to say one gets a lot more satisfaction out of being a fan when your organization is ran properly.
