One of the most frustrating game of football I've ever watched, how did we lose 3-1 after that performance?

^ John Terry.

This was pretty much a replay of that.

Rooney had a terrible game though and he could have scored a hat trick. The penalty miss, passing up the 1 on 1 and then screwing up an easy finish straight to Cech. Even his short range passing sucked.

^That was what kind of pleased me about the match, but Nani just destroyed us, we couldn't do anything against him all day.

I was in a pub today with about 80%-85% United supporters and when Torres missed that, I'm pretty sure most of them stood up and gave him a standing ovation.

Crazy game in all though. If you count all the gimmes (Torres gaffe/Ramires in 1st half and Rooney's penalty) the game really should have been 4-3 at least and there were a host of other chances on each side.

I'm pretty encouraged as a Chelsea fan despite the loss. They looked quite good out there and played United about even away from home. Aside from the shocking miss Torres looked quite good. His movement was excellent. If he keeps doing what he did today he'll be back in form soon.

I'm glad to get this fixture out of the way early in the season. The loss hurts but it's way too early at this point.

Must have been a hell of a game to watch as a neutral.

Was at a pub today as well, actually nearly a 50-50 split between United/Chelsea supporters. Some Chelsea supporters went nuts when Rooney missed the PK, so of course when Torres blew it I went absolutely crazy. I think United looked human today, Chelsea have a lot of positives to take away from the game. Mata looks class and Torres had a very good performance (although I'm not sure how much of his confidence has been restored after that miss). Sturridge was awful today, almost every time he touched the ball he lost possession.

The first United goal was obviously a tad offside (although no one really marked anyone properly) and the third one was a great run by Jones but a few random bounces that led to an easy Rooney finish. Nani was very good today and honestly that's what I expect from him every match, just like when he hit top-form last season. Also, Valencia was a tank at RB, love his versatility and he didn't look all that out of position there. Oh and Phil Jones <3

Yeah mata definetly looks like he'll be a good player for Chelsea. He makes really dangerous runs and is just a quality player out wide.

Ashley Cole was just awful though. IMO by far the worst player on the pitch.

Tbh, I didn't think Mata was that good today. He was out of it for a long time and should have done better on the Nani goal (which was technically offside too btw).

Best Chelsea players for me were Anelka, Torres and Ramires. It's just a shame that the latter two had the biggest misses of the game for us. Worst was Lampard IMO. I thought he would play well after seeing him against Leverkusen, but obviously that wasn't the case. However it was refreshing to see a manager not afraid to replace him at HT. I am liking this AVB more and more.

Best United player? Easy. Nani closely followed by Jones who's going to do great things for both United and England.

Worst Chelsea player to me was Bosingwa, the guy just looked completely out of class in this kind of a game. Luiz could have been a safer bet than him imo.
