Waiver advice

Post#1 » by PR07 » Wed Sep 21, 2011 2:22 am

I've got the #1 waiver priority in my league, and Gronkowki the Pats TE is still a free agent. Anyways, I can pick him up, but it would require me to drop a player. My bench is Harvin, Starks, AJ Green, Josh Freeman, Cam Newton, and Julio Jones aka stacked...so I don't have a clear roster spot. My current TE is Vernon Davis who hasn't done much but is still as of this point, considered an elite option. Is it worth dropping in my opinion Julio Jones (deep at WR) for Gronkowski and using up my #1 waiver claim?

This same league has dropped the likes of Brandon LLoyd and Michael Vick on Waivers before.

Who's your starting QB? I'd honestly consider cutting Freeman. Otherwise, try to trade 2 for 1 if you have time before your waivers are processed.

Cutting Freeman to pick up another TE when you don't really need one is a terrible idea.

I'd drop Harvin before Freeman.

It depends. If his other QB is a guy he's never benching (Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, etc), then it's not insane, especially since it looks like he's currently carrying 3 QBs. Gronkowski has a legit shot to be the #1 TE in fantasy over the next month with Hernandez out; he's already the #1 after two weeks. I'm not a Harvin fan either, though, so that's also an option. Maybe try to peddle Freeman+Harvin to another team for a good but underachieving WR?

I've got Vick who gets the crap beat out of him on a weekly basis, so I don't necessarily want to get rid of Freeman and throw all my eggs into the Cam Newton basket just yet. Freeman's consistency is a nice compliment to Vick off the bench I think.

I'm leaning towards dropping Jones...but you could make the case for Harvin I suppose.
