They are actually both! They both hold duel citizenship (lucky buggers!!).

How did your partner like country Vic??

After she got over the initial fear that everything could potential eat, poison or kill her she loved it. She loves all of Oz. After living in Melb for a year we drove around Oz for 3 months before moving here (I wanted to see as much of my home as I could before I left). I bought a panel van, tricked it out with a raised bed in the back and drove/campled the east coast, across the top from Townsville to Tenant Creek, down through the middle then back to Kyneton.

That's awesome!! Glad your kids are Aussies aswell, It's just not acceptable if they're not!!!

You gotta see as much as this God blessed country as you can.

When are you coming over next??

Do Americans/Canadians have a innate fear of the wildlife in Australia??

i dont think the majority of americans, even sports fans, have a clue about AFL. at best, they just think its rugby. back in the early 80s ESPN used to show a ton of AFL games. they really didnt have much programming back then and i guess they scored rights to AFL and played the living crap out of it. but i was like 9 back then so i had no clue. but thats the only way i knew anything about it until talking with slam. by the mid 80s the AFL was gone from ESPN and i've never seen it on since, until this summer when slam sent me a schedule. ESPN played one game, the geelong one, and that was at like 3AM. ESPN3 the online site shows a game a week, but i cant seen to get access to that site for some reason.

you must have been away from the board a few months ago when i conducted my extension search for an AFL team before deciding to support fremantle. i even played AFL fantasy this year. good times.

Bold, aggressive move by Fremantle in signing the new coach will be interesting to see how it pans out.
I don't buy into the loyalty, finger pointing crap as the AFL has become a business with the amount of money involved.
Teams don't give a **** about loyalty when they are firing coaches and players all the time. It goes both ways and we are sure to see more of it.

Dockers were hammered with injuries this year and should definitely be in the finals next year.

True & it is a very proactive approach but I contend that Mark Harvey should have been treated with more respect in his departure, also if they're questioning Mark Harvey's coaching abilities why give him a 2 year contract at the end of last season, obviously the injuries are the main reason that they suffered this year & maybe they should have replaced their fitness/sports science department.

I think the loyalty factor is what separates AFL from most sports & therefor holds a massive stake in the ethics/future of the game especially with Free Agency coming in.

Cheers fats, if I had just clicked on the Off-Topic thread a few months ago you would support the mighty Geelong Football Club....sigh....

Glad you're a fan & please spread the gospel about the beautiful oval ball game stateside, funnily enough I think that Americans would excel at Aussie Rules & would aid it's development with their elite athleticism.

I think the loyalty has gone mate. Like Tom Scully going to GWS its all about the money and opportunity. You have to take the money where you can.

I don't think Freo thought Harvey was a bad coach, but just thought that Lyon was a better coach. You have to improve your team when you can. It was about time Freo did something though, my wife is a Freo supporter and they have been desperately mediocre for so long now, something had to give. Their best players are starting to get on and its now or never for a Finals push.

They really have underachieved in what has generally been a relaxed often undisciplined team culture. They need to change the tone of the club, maybe Lyon can do that.

I remember when the Eagles started targeting US colleges hoping to get an athletic American to turn into a footballer. They didn't have any luck.

Just done a short search and found this: http://www.theroar.com.au/2011/03/01/af ... rican-pie/

Poor bloke, dreams of playing AFL and gets stuck at Collingwood.
Would be horrible finishing his first training session and going to the locker rooms to find that anything of value had been stolen and hocked. Can imagine him sitting there wondering what he gotten himself into landing in a town where front teeth don't exist and incest is not just accepted but expected.

Maybe I'm just holding onto the belief that we can still save the game, it made me sick to my stomach that Scully fled Melbourne in their time of need having contributed next to nothing for them & gets the best contract in the history of the game....

Yes the money controls the game but seriously apart from the obvious what is difference between 600-800k & a million?? to play for a team that will not contend for a decade?? As a Geelong fan I wished Gary the best of luck on the Gold Coast because of what he contributed to the team in his 10 years with the club..Scully played about 40 games for Melbourne & got paid when he wasn't playing despite his knee injury.

Back onto Ross Lyon, he is a seriously overrated coach, I don't know any St. Kilda supporters who actually liked him, I actually believe he under achieved with the list he had & Mark Harvey overachieved with what personnel he had.

Mark Harvey>>>>Ross Lyon coach

People forget he made top 4 the season before last & they still had a wretched run with injuries.

I honestly believe that at the least Freo should have at least told Mark Harvey that his services were no longer required & Ross Lyon should have told the Saints he was leaving so they could get into the coaching recruitment game earlier before all the best were gone.

*Congrats that Brett Ratten got his new 2 year deal Sachmo, He deserved it.

It's disgusting that places like GWS who don't like football at all & have no interest in the sport are handed a franchise & we can't even though we contribute 9-12 million a year in revenue at least for the Hawthorn Football Club. The assault on Rugby heartland is Pi**ing me off!!

Agreed. The order of who gets a team should be Tassie then the NT and then everyone else.

In saying that, I have a mate from up North and he has been amazed at how well the Suns have been recieved up there. His feeling is that Rugby League is dying a slow death. He said the whole Suns franchise is being run and presented really, really well.

The European game is tailored to his set of skills. I'm not surprised he's having success.

Patty Mills got his first taste of Perth's super defensive back court.

Ended up with 13pts at 36%, 0 assists and 6 turnovers!!! :P

Reputation means nothing here fella.
