TUF 14 (FW/BW); Finale (Bisping vs. Miller) 12/3 on Spike TV

Post#1 » by damo[23] » Mon Aug 22, 2011 6:52 pm

So just around the month away from TUF14 - typically its not something I get "excited about" so to speak, but I do still watch it (though since about S9 not really as dedicated). But I think this season will be a lot different - since its almost like S1/S2 again - the UFC are going into a completely new talent pool (135/145).

First show is 2hrs - we see ALL the entry fights, and we are promised they are "amazing".

Cast List: http://mmajunkie.com/news/24909/the-ult ... eights.mma

I think this could be a good season, just purely because it's a completely new pool they are going to, a bit like S5 where they went to the lightweights - I thought that made for a really high quality show.

On the side of the coaches, not happy to see Bisping again, despite being English myself I just think he's been on too many TUF's already - I was sick of him after S3 when he competed, let alone coach. Mayhem could be a good character though - I'd have like to have actually seen at the very least LW's, but preferably FW/BW coaches - just to promote them a bit more.

Cole Miller's brother will be on TUF14. He should go far.

I recognize a lot of names from those lists, but aside from a few guys, I can't really place them. Probably WEC washouts, maybe some prospect lists or something. I think some flyweights are moving up to BW to get a chance as well.

I'm looking forward to this season. Should be the best in terms of fight quality since season 5, maybe ever. Bisping vs. Mayhem should be an interesting dynamic as well.

They don't have impressive records but we need to remember that these guys have been fighting out of their weight classes. I have faith that these are some of the best BW/FW fighters available and should be a good season.

Anyone excited?

I'm pretty pumped for a tuf season for the first time since I can remember.

Hopefully a lot of prospects. The quality of the fights has been stretched even more than usual, and we get to watch Mayhem heckle Bisping.

Am I crazy or did the "not the daddy" guy just blatantly flying knee his opponent in the head when his knee was on the ground? Happened quickly so I could be wrong.

Wouldn't shock me though.

I thought the same thing RZ. I think I've seen a couple of illegal knees. The one you mentioned, and the one with that had that Marcus guy in there just blasting away against that Hawaiain. His hole flurry got started with what I thought was an illegal knee.

Guess we know who Bisping's guy's will be.

OK, it just happened again. Is that Mazaggati that was overseeing BOTH of those fights?

Unreal.

If cpt, cammo, and spykelee became mma refs/judges tomorrow, would they be the best trio in the sport? Serious question. Its unreal how poor the reffing/judging can still sometimes be.

^^ lol, there was potentailly even 1 more in that beebe fight, though I probably could have let that slide...

Any of the regular posters here would be better than everyone outside of Dean, and Big John.

I don't like Big Jon that much, he needs to shut the **** up and let people fight. Plus he's a little quick with the standups imo. That said, he's still in the top few, whatever that's worth.

Can't remember the other guy I like. Rosenthal maybe? Blanking.

Good fights tonight.

I could agree that big john can be a little quick with standups, but at least he has a complete and total understanding of what's happening in there. Mirgs and Mazzagatti have had there fair share of bad moments... Yea Rosnethal seems alright. Nothing that jumps out at me anyways..

Yea great fights tonight. Outside of the Canadian who seemed to have some lax standup, everyone else looks pretty solid I thought.

Gonna be a great season!

John Dodson seems like a bit of a wanker to me though. Always trying to be in the spotlight...

And like mentioned earlier, outside of the Canadian guy who seemed to have some wild standup, everyone looks pretty solid and well rounded. It is going to be a great season!!

And I really like Mayhem's personality thus far. I like his belief in guys and in there hearts. Seems like a genuine guy. I'd love to be on his team.

Yeah I think this season has the chance to be one of the better ones yet, Mayhem is going to be everything Brock was supposed to be for this show it appears. Some interesting fighters here, good personalities and the preview of the season looked great. Very excited about this season.

How the hell did that fight with the Japanese guy not go a 3rd round?

A few of those guys had crazy, crazy chins.. All the fights were entertaining, this season has potential, I'll be watching again.

I'm going for Delorme, dude's from my home town
