Gallery out 4-6 weeks (groin) Rice damaged labrum

According to Pete's monday news conference. Gallery needs groin surgery and who knows how long for Rice who may still need surgery if it's not good by next week.

So out of our primary FA acqusitions, two have been beset by injuries and been unable to contribute, one is a completely ineffective QB, and the other is forced to stay in and block while remaining ineffective due to said ineffective QB.

Figures.

Seriously though, we've got to keep a sense of humor about this year. I do think we're moving in the right direction more or less. It just all hinges on the QB we get in the draft. If we don't, however, pick a QB in the first round next spring, I think I will gouge my eyes out.

sad to admit this, but is anyone else worried that Colts will tank harder than we will?

Yes.

That team is nothing without Manning. On one hand that's a good thing because it just goes to show what one truly talented QB can do [thereby giving hope to those franchises pining for such a QB]...but on the other hand it's a bad thing because their post-Manning suckitude may land them that NEW talented QB that could turn our fortunes around instead.

They're the San Antonio Spurs of the NFL. The Admiral goes down, they fall ass backwards into Tim Duncan. Four titles later...

I think its all a conspiracy. They are holding out the more proven veteran players so we will suck this year and get Luck and then next year... surprise we are good.

But seriously, I do think we are heading in the right direction and even if we lost every game I still have total faith in Pete and co. We made the playoffs the first year with Holmgren and then sucked the next year. Its just what happens when a team is starting over with a new vision.

While Luck's the target, I do like Matt Barkley and Landry Jones a great deal as well. Barkley has a rather porous OL (by SC standards, anyway) and is doin' work out there this year. 69%, 9/1 TD/INT ratio so far. I think this Saturday (@ Arizona State) will be worth watching; see what he can do against Vontaze Burfict and the Sun Devil D. Barkley's my top back-up option; I like Jones, don't get me wrong, but I've never really seen Jones hit the ground. That Sooner OL is beastly. I know Luck and Barkley can make big throws when all hell breaks loose. Jones?? Not sure.

Did you see the Carroll presser where they asked him about Luck and Barkley? I was expecting him to sidestep the question, but he lit up and seemed stoked with Luck and really proud of Barkley. He said he expects either to be ready to go right away in the NFL (no big surprise compared to our current punching dummy)
