The problem with that deal is that I think I remember hearing that if Portland traded Camby, that he'd just retire.

That's not really the problem. As the deal is to get SOMETHING for Daly if we weren't intent on signing him.
I'd do that deal, nab Smith, and then turn around and target Oden wth a hefty 3 year deal.
