Bosh*t Sawx @Yanks: Complete the collapse?

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Fri Sep 23, 2011 4:29 am

Let's roll the clocks all the way back to ESPN's MLB preview where ALL 32 ESPN writers predicted not only will the Boston Red Sox win the AL East but also win the World Series. If you ever need a reason to understand why MLB is a 162 game season it's for this reason...this is not a sprint. It's a long distance run.

If you want to humor yourself, go back and re-listen Bill Simmons/Buster Olney's hand jobs over the Sawx slow start in April. Only compared the 2011 SAwx to the '99 Yankees that was "trying too hard" citing Carl Crawford was just overcompensating at the plate.

Then Simmons' stating the Sawx were over their slow start (oh really Bill?)...

This is a mental game but one where a team doesn't put too much stock in head to head but the schedule....

So here we are, the Yanks and Sawx almost role reversal...It's the Boston Red Sox who picked a Yankee-esque move of over spending on Lackey, Crawford, & A-Gonz...while the Yanks spent on Soriano (their only big spend), Martin, Chavez and picked up Colon & Garcia off the scrap heap. The proof is undeniable but a few things HAD to go right for the Yanks:

1. Emergence of Ivan Nova: Can you imagine this team without his 16 wins?
2. Return of Derek Jeter: Ready to bury this guy but the captain is back
3. Grand St: Curtis' unbelievable year made up for A-Rod's injuries and Teixiera's inconsistent season.
4. Russell Martin: With Cervelli out, he anchored the position.

So here we go, Yanks can take the Sawx out with Garcia, Burnett, Nova...can they do it?

I think the Yanks have a legit shot at taking 2 of 3 because Garcia and AJ have something to play for that is, their playoff spot. Would love to see Nova win his 17th game...

Most important, I hope Girardi cycles giving Granderson, Jeter, Cano, Tex days off...those guys have been cogs in the wheel...and geezus, just go ahead and sit A-rod till the playoffs begin his body is fine china.

CC is off till the playoffs (thank goodness)...

A rain delay would definitely mess up the Red Sox who would have to sit their achy line up between games.

Jeter! *stares into the crowd for the clowns who recommended playing Nunez for the Captain*

Let's go Yanks. STAB that dagger and TWIST that blade. THIRTY TWO ESPN writers picked the Sawx to win the World Series....this is a NEW YORK world, you're living in it you nut sacs.

Texas POUNDING the crap out of King Felix. As I said, an overaggressive meathead to tries to muscle a ball inside first pitch EVERY time....

DAMMIT...why did A-rod pump that ball in his glove before the wild throw? E-5

Side Note: I think King Felix thinks with his wallet like his fat face...he could have been a FA in 2011 asking the Yanks for a blank check and pitching with CC and dominating the AL. Instead he took 78M from the Mariners, locked in till 2014...on a franchise that is paying a selfish player, Ichiro EIGHTEEN MILLION (7M more than Felix) a season to hit .273 and singles.

Well, when King Felix is 28 he'll have a chance to reconsider as he tries to suck 180M from some team.
