Yippeee!!! Mets scored 6 in the 9th to take the game 8-6. Cards have to be in shock right now. Lead was on the verge of being 1 game and instead it is 2 games! This has got to be to them how the loss the other night was to Atlanta when Kimbrel gave up the 2 run walkoff HR to Infante and we lost. A shot in the gut. Hopefully, this will rattle them down the stretch. We really needed this loss for them to make it a 2 game lead because the Cards definitely have the easier schedule.

Great job by the Braves and Cubs stretching our lead to a solid 3 games, but I'm not gonna get too confident just yet, our last 3 are vs Philly while the Cards have the Astros, but lets hope we get the sweep and the Cards lose one more to the Cubs then it's a clinch.

Braves lose, Cards and Astros tied in the 9th. Going to bed. It will either be a 1 game lead for Atlanta, or it will be tied with 2 games to go.

Rays and Red Sox both win. Tied with 1 game to play.

Braves lose, Cards up 9-6 after rallying from a 5-0 hole. If they win, we are tied with 1 to play. And they have Carpenter going Wednesday.

Also heard that if there is a 1 game Playoff between Cards and Braves, Cards host it.

Both series are tied with 1 game to go. Who has the horses to get it done?

I had been focused on our having had a 9.5 game WC lead on Aug. 28th. What is worse is that it was 8.5 on Sept. 5th . That 8.5 game lead is gone when we go to bed on Sept 27th. 8.5 game lead is lost in 3 weeks and 1 day. What an unreal collapse, as we are 8 - 17 in last 25 games. Amazingly, we are still alive as we are tied, and we still control our destiny. Win today, and if a playoff game in needed tomorrow in St. Louis, win that one, too. At least we control our own destiny.

Oh, and our collapse is rivaled by the Red Sox. They had a 9 game lead over the Rays on Sept. 2nd. I think given the expectations and the off season moves, that the Sox not making the Playoffs is an even greater collapse than the Braves. Red Sox were picked by most to win the WS.

Epic collapse in 2011. Both Red Sox and Braves blow huge September leads and miss the Playoffs.

A tip of the hat to the Cards. They were actually down 10.5 games a month ago. They made up 11.5 games in a month. Very impressive.

A tip of the hat to Joe Madden and the Tampa Rays. They build the team into a contender, then gut the team, and he still makes the Playoffs. It's been that way for a few years now, and the Rays players just play their hearts out for the guy and continue to make the Playoffs. Terrific manager.

Return to Atlanta Braves
