yeah, they were. lol.

that was a strange game. we looked so flowing and free in the 1st half but the 2nd half was just a bit of a mess. lots of guys seemed to fade as the game went on.

was not impressed again with castillo, so the left back puzzle remains open. i still like lichaj there compared to the other options.

i agree with all your points swedd. thought torres was best player for us last night. rogers, castillo and orozco didnt impress. i dont even remember much of edu to be honest. donovan did not have one of his better games either.

i wonder what changes we will see for tuesday's game.

Can't find anything on and haven't heard about any interest of Loew. :dontknow:

Though, with Lahm playing on the left side again we still haven't found a guy that's certain to play at right back.

Watched Napoli vs Villareal last night(and the final 10 minutes of ManU vs Basel) and I really liked the first 20 minutes or so, when Napoli run over Villareal.
After that it was pretty boring with Napoli going back to the good ol Italian Catenaccio style and Villareal not being able to do anything on offense.

Also, Bayern won again and they've just won their last 10 games by a total score of 28-0.
During the season they've only conceeded one goal and one defeat which was, drumrolls please, on openening day against Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Talking about Gladbach, were currently the surprise team of the league with 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss during the first seven matches of the season, which has us at 3rd place of the Bundesliga table, just behind Werder Bremen on goal difference.

Other then that, Hamburg got their first win of the season last Friday and it seems like the league is "back to normal" with only Gladbach being a surprise team at the top of the table.

i watched the bayern v man city game yesterday. that was great. i loved seeing city get thrashed like that. and tevez is such a tool. maybe this is their year.... or maybe its just gonna be a boring barca v man u final again.

speaking of man u, their defense is allowing shots on goal at an alarming rate for such top team.

Another update from Europe.

There are now 12 of 16 teams qualified for next years european championships.

They are:
Poland(host)
Ukraine(host)
Spain
Netherlands
Germany
Italy
Denmark
Sweden
France
England
Greece
Russia

Then there are 8 more teams that will play for the remaining 4 spots in a playoff format.
They're divided in two pots

Pot 1:
Portugal
Czech Republic
Croatia
Ireland

Pot2:
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Turkey
Montenegro
Estonia

That means, teams of the same pot can't be drawn(will be held tomorrow) against each other and they'll play two legs(11-12th November and 15th November) to determine those last four participants.

Once those final four teams have qualified there'll be the draw for the tournament(held on December 2nd), which will have the two host(Poland will be in Group A and Ukraine in Group D) and currently Spain + Netherlands in pot one.

I hope Czech rep. won't make it through. We are getting nowhere with current coach and sooner he gets sacked the better. Advancing to Euro would mean another failed next World Cup qualification at least with no game improvements meawhile. I am actually afraid that making it into qualification playoffs may enough for him to stay, football organization in here is ***, everybody is covering his butt (and business of others) and acts like friend of everybody, so incompetent can stay.

Veteran NT players are typical products of that enviornment and have no sense of reality (Rosický is prime example). The crisis of NT is somewhat like France at last WC only there is no conflict, players get thair way, everybody friends and no hard work and no pressure to think on pitch as there is no system of play.

amazing that portugal just cant ever seem to get their team straightened out.

who is the biggest surprise team this year, good and bad?

btw, did anyone watch the recent US friendlies this past week? two more disappointing offensive performances. this team is dying for some attacking players.

i also watched the mexico vs brazil game last night. that was entertaining.

Estonia and Armenia were form pot 5, the former ended up as runner-up, the latter just missed that being third.

The draws for the final four spots of next years european championship are in:

Bosnia and Herzegovina - Portugal
Turkey - Croatia
Estonia - Ireland
Montenegro - Czech Republik

Like two years ago(for the WC 2010) Portugal and Bosnia will play each other for a ticket to a big tournament. Last time Portugal made it through, but just barely by beating Bosnia 1-0 twice.
Turkey vs Croatia should be a heated battle and Ireland is the clear favourite against Estonia
The Czech Republik will have his hands full against Montenegro and it's offensive talents like Vucinic(Juventus) or Jovetic(Fiorentina).

haha... i was just looking at that pic on twitter doc. whatever he needs to do to keep ross turnbull away from the field...

its been 3 weeks and i am still pissed at that arsenal game.

man city looks unstoppable right now.

i downloaded and watched a torrent of the 2005 champions league game between chelsea and barcelona where chelsea won 4-2 (advanced on 5-4 aggregate). that was a great game.

usa vs france coming up on friday i think. that should be fun. i wish JK would give adu another look though. we still desperately need some creativity in the middle of the field.

thanks for reminding me! I'll flip back and forth between this one and the Memphis game.

We're running with a 4-4-2 variant today

------------------Altidore ------- Buddle------------------
----------Dempsey ---- Johnson ---- Bradley----------
-----------------------Beckerman-------------------------
-Chandler - Bocanegra - Goodson - Cherundolo-

and then Altidore blows an absolute bunny. Should be 2-0 less than 11 minutes in.
