if the playoffs are anything like the last games of the regular season then this year will be a lot of fun.

I hope the Tigers knock off the Yanks, Rays beat Texas.
Philly will defeat St Louis and Milwaukee should win against Arizona.

My hope is a Tigers/Phillies final with the Phillies winning.
but realistically I think it will be a Yankees/Phillies final with Philly still winning.

The Phillies are the logical pick to win the World Series, as they have four #1 starters (or at worst three #1's and one #2 depending on how much weight you put on Oswalt's 2011 season), but in baseball it is all about which team is the hottest at that particular time. The Cardinals are hot. Stranger things have happened.

I am going to go with a Philles/Yankees World Series, which will be ESPN and Fox's wet dream scenario I'm sure, but the AL is wide open, IMO. Wouldn't surprise me if any of the four make the WS. I will be mildly shocked if the Phillies are eliminated by the Cardinals or Brewers/D-Backs. The Cardinals probably have the best shot to beat them in the NL.

I'd most like Rays-Phillies meeting up. I hate the Phillies, but love Doc. I don't really know who I'd want to win.

I think the Rays have a good shot in the AL, with their pitching staff and momentum. Should be exciting to see what Moore can do in Game 1.

It could very well be a Rays-Phillies World Series.

I was listening to Boston radio today. :) Gonzalez in post game said that it was not in god's plan for Red Sox to go to the playoffs. How good of an excuse is that.

Tigers over Yankees
Rays over rangers

phillies over cards
brewers over D Backs

I think thats what i'd like to see happen but not sure about Tigers over Yankees. I guess depends how good Verlander pitches.

Apparently, Matt Moore is starting Game 1 for the Rays. Interesting, that; he has pitched less than 10 major league innings, but the fact that Texas has never faced him could be of benefit...he devastated the Yankees a week ago, with 11 strikeouts in 5 IP.

Reminds me of 2008 when Price emerged for the Rays, difference being the Rays were short in the bullpen for the playoffs without the closer, Percival, making Price useful in the bullpen that year.

If the Phillies can get past the Cardinals then I think they'll end up taking it all. I have a sneaking suspicion though that the Cards steal that series. In the AL, I still like the Rangers.

Matt Moore is going to be really good for a long time if he can stay healthy. I'm guessing the Rays try to trade Shields this offseason because of Moore's presence, and I'd expect AA to be in on that if he can't get Darvish.

Yep, they rode Shields hard this season, likely knowing they would trade him and replace him with Moore this off-season. I envy the Rays.

The Yankees may live to regret bending over for the Rays the last week of the season, assuming they get past Verlander.

I'd love a guy like Shields on this team. We need another inning-eater with 3/5ths of the rotation (arguably 4/5ths) so uncertain.

Man, for Shields to get traded within' the AL East we'd be overpaying.
Having said that, i still like him a bunch better than the unproven Darvish.
