as long as he doesn't sign in China he should be able to come back to Houston when/if the lockout ends.

Good. Not like he's going to sniff the court anytime soon. More experience for him is a good thing.

great, he's making a step from eurocup to the euroleague.
he's gotten real stronger, a shame that instead of motiejunas, lithuanian players like lavrinovic and delininkaitis who played 5-10 mpg got the spot on the european championship roster.

Re: Donatas Motiejunas signs in Poland
Motiejunas played his first game, some preseason cup match. Prokom lost to CSKA Moscow 52:76.
Donatas, 6 points (1/5 2FG 0/3 3FG 4/6FT), 10 rebounds, 2 assists.
I actually do not want to be that guy, but I know what kind of player Donatas is, and I think hes terrible. Its just my opinion. He has sky high potential, maybe highest one in draft, but I personally lost hope in him. He was by far worst in 17 men Lithuanian NT camp this summer.
What is so bad about him? You know Charlie Villanueva? They are basketball clones. Pure Enigma, the guy who has no value on the court, no matter how much he scores, hes just useless. I was shocked how bad he is defensively, his D is just humiliating. And when you watch him play along side Jonas Valanciunas, you notice how poor Donatas' wingspan truly is. He cant block, and cant even contest some shots even if he tries.
Offensively D-Mo is good, smooth, can do everything... But I think the guy just cant figure it out who he is. I see him as a low post threat, but the guy seems to love to shoot 3s. He definitely overrates his range... He is not a superior shooter, like some people use to think... D-Mo is the one who can hit an open 3 sometimes, like for example Zach Randolph.
So its my D-Mo comparison - Charlie Villanueva. Donatas has way better work ethics tho, so he can work the things out eventually. No hatting, but I just saying, do not have high hopes, Patrick, Morris, these are better players by far IMO.
If you want to talk about Donatas, or any other Euro, bring it. Just no Lithuanian fanboys bashing me, pleasy, I know you guys...

CSKA Moscow is a traditionally strong team. Donatus did great to get a statline like that against them in his first game. I personally think he is a top 6-7 prospect from this draft....and I think he will end up being very, very good.

well, pretty well for a preseason game for Prokom, a team almost 100% rebuilded this summer. I'm sure Motiejunas will do much much better then Charlie V. Look at the Prokom's roster: Jerel Blassingame (newcomer), Alonzo Gee (newcomer), Devin Brown (newcomer), D-MO (newcomer), Fedor Dmitrijev (newcomer) - all import players replaced after last season...

Offense wins games, Defense wins championships...

How is Motiejunas defense and rebounding compared to everyone's favorite former Rocket David Andersen?

Re: Donatas Motiejunas signs in Poland
well today he went 13 and 9. he's a power forward and not a center, he's offensively sublime, but needs work on defense.
like ucanuwill said, he hasn't figured out who he is yet. but saying he's worse than patrick and morris based on what? this team will have a tough choice in the following years of whom to keep at the 4 once scola drains out. it just depends how well d-mo adapts to this basketball culture. i view him more in the area of gasol, especially his post game. charlie v is more of a spot up 4 option, but d-mo proved last year playing in treviso that he's got the will to change. he gained muscle and by some scouts opinions, too much and on top he developed a nice post game, among other small tidbits.
his defense isn't as atrocious as ucan put it.. no, he doesn't have the wingspan of his national teammate freak but watching him towards the end of last season, his post defense improved greatly. i don't even get why people choose to compare d-mo and val, they're teammates and compliment each other greatly, not sure why he's brought up every time somebody mentions d-mo.

i like babyjax think he'll be one of the better players from this draft.
he has the potential to have gone top 5 in this draft.

ucanuwill, lithuanian brother, don't act like you've come in here unbiased.
i already know you had this preconception of motiejunas from the raptor boards.. not like the beloved valanciunas. did you forget what happened in this years euro championship? defense alone couldn't save us if we couldn't make any goddamn baskets. i get it, valanciunas is the future, but not all players are gifted with a freak wingspan and whose motors don't run out. he's a tremendous asset for the future with lavrinovic brothers likely out in a few years, along with songaila, and petravicius.
it's ridiculous of you to say you lost hope in him. the guy is young, full of potential and he's definitely going to be sticking around with valanciunas towards the end of their tenures.
today he played damn good defense..

I am unbiased. Why I should hate the guy? And I am not talking bout Lithuania national team, I am talkinga about Donatas. I dissapointed, cause he was like top Euro prospect for the last few years, People were wondering whos better, Wall or Motiejunas... But right now, to me he looks like hes just a bust, i am sorry. I just think hes not a good player, thats why when I mention him, or talk about him, it may sounds I hate him... I am not, I really hope he turns out great.
I try to to be unbiased all the time. And I am talking about Donatas, like hes not my countryman, I am not a hater or a fanboy.
I say I lost hope in him, cause he is the same player he was 2 years ago. He improved his rebounding, especially offensive rebounding, but his defense sure is atrocious, to be fair, I cant give u a worse defender right now, he sure is worst in my memory.
He may improve that, but he will always gonna be below average defender. I sure believed he had a superstar potential, but now I dont think like that anymore. He will be great enigma at best.
After all, Donatas was a risky pick, I think everybody understands that. And being #20 in a week draft, it may worth the risk. But its just my opinion - it not gonna turn out good.
