the wrong guy is taking the fall....unless people expected him to stand up to huge contract players like lackey, there isnt much he couldve done with the chemistry issues imo

Re: francona done in BOS
Even though I HATE the Red Sox's I think Francona shouldn't be taking the fall. He brought them 2 world series titles and a great run in his time with Boston. If he is axed I could see a lot of suitors for bidding for him. I mean who wouldn't want him? Man I would hate to see how much pressure is on the new guy if Terry does get the axe

Re: francona done in BOS
The swoon of the Red Sox was because of a pitching staff that became the worst in baseball during the final month.
I think that Francona was obviously disgusted in the way that the Sox folded, so leaving the club isn't a surprise at all.
JMO, but it doesn't matter whose choice it was as Francona is better off elsewhere, while the Red Sox will have to retool on the fly.

Francona will be managing one of the chicago teams next season. It'll be interesting to see who they decide on to be the next manager for the red sox.

i dont think this matters for boston...the players win/lose games..managers might be the most overrated position in sports history
