ALDS 2011: Rays (Wild Card) vs. Rangers (AL West Champs)

Post#1 » by Da Schwab » Fri Sep 30, 2011 4:13 am

The Rays win the Wild Card and get to face the defending AL Champs, the Rangers, as a reward.

Game 1

Matt Moore (making his 2nd career start; 1-0/2.89 ERA/15 Ks/3 BBs)

vs.

CJ Wilson (16-7/2.94 ERA/206 Ks/74 BBs)

My prediction: Rays in 5. They're playing inspired baseball right now and I think they have the momentum to carry em to a second CS in four years.

Wow! They have Matt Moore starting the first game? I'm gonna have to go with the Rays for the first game.

the rangers are playing their best baseball of the year and should win this series, pitching has been phenomenal (and ogando going to the pen just adds another weapon) and we just had the best offensive month from any team in the past 70 years (might be 2nd best)

it'll be interesting to see how matt moore does though in game 1. really got to take it b/c james shields dominated us this year. cant go back to tampa down 0-2

2nd time through the lineup vs. moore has resulted in 1 walk 1 strikeout and 4 line drives, only problem is 3 of those line drives were hit right at people

man, this game was such a kick the balls, have to beat price and shields twice out of 4 games, seems damn near impossible after watching today

we've hit price pretty well the past couple years but shields has shut us down twice this year. of course cj had done that prior to today so who the f*ck knows.

as of now i dont feel good at all about tomorrow but the feeling could change in 24 hours

Price has suffered from lack of run support all year just like Shields.

Price however, has been prone to making a couple of mistakes with men on base in plenty of his starts.

For some reason this year, he's laid of his breaking pitches at times and mostly has been trying to just overpower hitters. He was a different pitcher last year.
