Re: Dwyane Wade disrespects Chauncey Billups
as a leader Amare owes it to his team to come back to work healthy. not to risk injury playing glorified pick-up games. If there was no lock-out nobody would be playing these show games. Amare was in Israel last season, not organizing diva camps. If we drafted a young PF then i can understand him spending time with him, like chauncey is, but Amare and Chauncey are in 2 different places in there careers.
Im more then ok, look how Amare faded in the last half of the season, we dont need a head start on that. we need him 100%.....missing these camps may be a blessing in disguise.

Dunno why anyone would question STAT's work ethic--he's earned our trust with how hard he improved last offseason to lead our team pre-Melo--let's see how he comes out when this lockout ends.

I wish he still organized the workouts and just served as a coach from the sidelines if he couldn't participate.

The whole thing was his idea. It was completely unsolicited by anyone. He's the one who took it upon himself to say he was going to do this, broadcasted that intention to the media and the fans, and then never followed through.
I agree that his health is paramount in all this, but he has claimed since early August that he is good to go. As someone who is supposed to be the team's leader, how can you not look at him a bit differently?
That would be like if Melo said he was going to come back in the best shape of his life, to provide an example for the young guys, then did nothing but shoot a reality show and have his Melo games, then showed up 10lbs heavier than he ended the season.
Yea, in the big scheme of things it's not that important, and certainly not impossible to fix, but his word means a little less now.

I'm not questioning his individual work ethic. He's always been in shape. I'm talking his commitment to leading.
It's sort of like he just said this thing about the mini-camp because it was a great sentiment and a great sound bite, but never really expected anyone to hold him to it.
Sorta like the whole flip-flopping he was doing on twitter earlier in the summer about "Should I go play in Turkey?" "No, my heart is with the city of NY" "These overseas offers are beginning to come in. I'm going to consider a few"
He's just saying things to say them at that point.
Don't get me wrong, I still love Amare. His word is just a little bit more hollow to me now.

I do wish STAT would have gotten everyone together like he said he would.. I know hes working out on his own but i wish Iman would have been able to get that early workout in with the older guys instead of being kind of on his own. Sh*t shawne williams is tweeting damn near everyday about how he wants the season to be on and the lockout to be over.. I know our stars will come back good but i thought it would be good for the team to get a head start..
Lebron and Wade been working out in MIA:

I wish we had videos like this of our guys..
But anyway, i wouldn't expect it if he didnt say it
EDIT: i just watched this video again, these boys aint playing.. Our guys need to get together and get on it

Anyone defending Melo for doing the same is more about his brand and less about this team. Even Billiups played @ impact with Shump (and S. Will/Jeffries were slated).
Carmelo said he was planning to hold team workouts if Amare doesn't get his **** together soon.
He should be doing it now instead of d*cking around with LeBron and CP3. Other teams have began informal workouts. The Knicks are working with a completely revamped roster of guys who know nothing about one another. I've yet to hear how charity games where a handful of max players play "keepaway" from their inferior teammates, as they chuck and bang on more inferior players is good except for Melo's/James'/CP3's image.

So you want Melo to completely undermine Amare's position as a leader by holding workouts when Amare already scheduled them months ago?

Re: Dwyane Wade disrespects Chauncey Billups
ok so you guys are exaggerating a bit ..
Amar'e Stoudemire said in an interview over the weekend the new plan once his back is fully healed is to gather a handful of Knicks mates at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., to train instead of Los Angeles.
A source close to Stoudemire said such a camp wouldn't commence until September.

No, you just found an article that blurbed it. Amare was saying it to anyone who would listen when the season was done. He was on the radio talking about it, on twitter, etc...

is his back fully healed? was that confirmed?
perhaps they dont want to waste time working out b/c they are expecting a different system from mike this year (which they wouldnt know of since they cant talk to him?)

From Newsday: “The plan currently being put into place is to meet up at the IMG facility in Bradenton, Fla. in September for a Stoudemire-sponsored minicamp. ‘I’ll have them all meet at IMG, put them all in apartments, feed them breakfast and lunch — they’re on their own for dinner,’ Stoudemire told SI.com’s Sam Amick in Los Angeles last week. In confirming these plans, I’m told Stoudemire is scheduled to have his back re-examined this week and expects to be cleared to resume workouts and basketball activities. Let’s see how he does after 26 hours of air travel. An early September workout would be a good warmup for training camp, which is scheduled to begin in the last weekend of September. But as long as Jeffrey Kessler is dominating the meetings — whenever the league and union do meet — then this IMG workout might be the only time we see the Knicks together on the court in the 2011 calendar year.”

Considering the current state of #NBA CBA talks, plan now for Amar'e is to put off IMG minicamp with #Knicks mates until October. #pessimism

Amare was medically cleared on August 11th according to Hahn. Amare himself has been saying he's ready to go.
What does the system have to do with anything? They can all still work out, do drills, and get a feel for each other's games. That was the whole point.

i posted a link. i can read what he said. its a little different then the linkless reports/rumors your speaking of. especially when the season "was done" he was nowhere near 100% and ready for camps.

That was after Amare said he was getting everyone together in LA for August.

I think his health played a factor in all of this as well as, probably, knowing the lockout would drag on giving him more time to rest and relax. That, and he might have had a hard time getting everyone together with all the players all over the place between Melo traveling and heading to China as did Amare and they probably had prior commitments. Still, I understand why you're a little disappointed in Amare, but it still seems like they'll get the workouts done.

No, they won't. The workouts are now only something that will happen if the season starts late. It is basically now become a training camp if there is no training camp.
If the lockout ends by Tuesday, then the season starts on time, and Amare's fantasy camp will never happen.

what your talking about is hear say and rumors. you took a story, chopped it up to suit your agenda, and spread it around this board like sewage. if your going to say things, have links, have proof to back it up. not that i dont believe you or anything, but your just as credible a source as me. probly worse since you still cant come up with links to back your fabricated stories.
just 1 question for those who love these games, If Melo breaks his Leg tonight, would you still believe these glorified pick-up games were such a good idea ?
