Re: Dwyane Wade disrespects Chauncey Billups
To me Amar'e should not have said a word publicly if he knew he couldn't "health wise" give it a go.
He said August in LA, didn't happen, then Sept, didn't happen.
Now it's "if the season starts late"....that's training camp now, not a workout.
Amar'e renigged on his word, but hell if he didn't say it publicly we'd never know.
Even those bitches in Miami at the end of season said, "we hope everyone works on their games".
They are their leaders of their team, and they are doing it.
BTW, I saw a post a while back where someone asked if they thought Melo should over take Amar'es leadership and get this together......
Melo has said it as well for fact, and if he were to organize it, I don't see that as over stepping.
He is a leader on this team as well, and Amar'e shouldn't have any issue to it.

Re: Dwyane Wade disrespects Chauncey Billups
ppl need to relax. i read all this criticism of our guys and it sounds like we're afraid of the heat. Who cares what the heat are doing to prepare, they didn't win last season and neither did we. Back to the drawing board. We split the season series with them. Back to the drawing board. That heat team was together all year and, had training camp at army bases and all that crap and still started slow. What they do does not have to be what we do. I can't say for certain but nobody seems to be showing video clips or reports about whether the championship dallas mavericks are working out together, or the celtics or lakers. And nobody is criticizing kobe for "building his brand" or not being a leader or all that other crap that gets spewed on this board. Way too butt sensitive over here sometimes. Let melo and amare live. These two are a pair of the BEST conditioned athletes in the league as well as in the top 10 or 15 players in the league. So what everybody is not working out together right now, at least everybody is working out. We dont have a team of eddy curry's. The knicks will be fine if and when the season starts, we will compete with everyone in the league, we will be in the playoffs. Why? Because we have good players and good leadership, despite ppl over here acting like we dont cuz players have lives that are not all about pleasing the crazy fans who "think" they matter.

once again lets clarify what he really actually did say....for reals....
Amar'e Stoudemire said in an interview over the weekend the new plan once his back is fully healed is to gather a handful of Knicks mates at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., to train instead of Los Angeles.
A source close to Stoudemire said such a camp wouldn't commence until September.

Melo has said time and time again, he is determined to give the fans basketball.
I don't like who he plays with, but those are his friends, and I hope he doesn't get injured, and I doubt any of them would go in that hard like that.
These games aren't on that competition level, but if he got hurt, then so be it.
I wouldn't like it, but Melo has done somethings that I am very proud of.
He looks slimmer, has gotten two surgeries out of the way, and for record he doesn't like going under the knife.
And he is staying in shape.
The risk is he could get hurt, but the reward is that he will be sharp when the season starts.
Not sure about Amar'e right now, but if they stream this, I will get to see him as well.

Why are you talking about this like it is one of those dumb Melo league games? Amare was talking about a Knicks only mini-camp where the team gets together and trains so they are ready to go for the season.
There is a big difference. One is an exhibition game for entertainment, the other is a focused week of training meant to pay dividends during the regular season.
On top of that, Amare has found time to play in one of those dumb pickup games, but he still hasn't found time to organize the Knicks only mini-camp he said he was going to do.

hey man no disrespect, but read the article for real......
It clearly says.....THE NEW PLAN, instead of LOS ANGELES.
That should concretely identify there was a plan to train in LA.

Here is what he said
From Newsday: “The plan currently being put into place is to meet up at the IMG facility in Bradenton, Fla. in September for a Stoudemire-sponsored minicamp. ‘I’ll have them all meet at IMG, put them all in apartments, feed them breakfast and lunch — they’re on their own for dinner,’ Stoudemire told SI.com’s Sam Amick in Los Angeles last week. In confirming these plans, I’m told Stoudemire is scheduled to have his back re-examined this week and expects to be cleared to resume workouts and basketball activities. Let’s see how he does after 26 hours of air travel. An early September workout would be a good warmup for training camp, which is scheduled to begin in the last weekend of September. But as long as Jeffrey Kessler is dominating the meetings — whenever the league and union do meet — then this IMG workout might be the only time we see the Knicks together on the court in the 2011 calendar year.”

here is a portion of this article.....
"Amar'e originally planned to bring his teammates together this week for some on-court bonding to go along with whatever L.A. might have to offer off the court. He, Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony were all in on it. Mason, Landry Fields, Andy Rautins, rookies Iman Shumpert and Josh Harrellson, Jerome Jordan and, yes, Jared Jeffries -- Fixers, Jared is clearly a "made guy" in the NBA. Knows everyone, knows everything and always taken care of. He even wears the shoes of a made guy: Jordan Brand -- were all on the list of players expected to join in. Ronny Turiaf is not expected to be there mainly because he's training with the French team for Eurobasket. There will likely be more players in the group, so don't consider an exclusion from my list to mean an exclusion from the workout.
As of now, the original schedule has been changed, we're told, from mid-July to now August. It's probably best, considering that Amar'e wants to be completely free of any back muscle twinges, Chauncey wants that left knee completely healed and Carmelo can get in some New York time after vacationing in Cabo with his family.".

again he made no promises, they were all dependent on his health.... which my only point is way more important then some weak off season camp that doesnt involve NBA Trainers or Coaches.
i get it, you guys think this tentative agreement to have a non-nba camp was way more important then getting physically healthy for an actual real NBA season. i agree to disagree.

Amare was cleared to play August 11th, and he is playing in the Heat's All-Star game on the 8th.
His health hasn't been an issue for a while. He was talking about playing overseas.

This is the second time Vallen has challenged a poster to supply links claiming he was skeptical about quotes from players that posters referenced from memory...only to be proven wrong both times.
Just admit Billups said he has no plans of retiring and plans to play a few more years since he spent the first five years of his career on the bench. And also admit that Amar'e did in fact go back on his word about organizing the Knicks mini-camp.

1. who exactly cleared him ? since NBA Team Doctors arent available to him at that point in time.
2. since he technically doesnt play for the Knicks during this lock-out period, why or what would he need clearance from anyone for ???

Why do ppl care so much about this flippin mini camp???? its not that big a deal. U guys seriously believe that his camp impacts: 1) Amare's impact as a leader 2) How well the knicks will play this season...Sheeesh, this is why its tough to play in nyc, ppl are hyper critical of everything. He is not any less of a leader to the ppl that actually count when the season starts, the players, coaches and staff. And this camp, whether it was supposed to happen earlier or was supposed to be a back up plan in case there is no training camp, doesn't matter in the long run.
By the way, the topic of this thread was "Dwayne Wade disrespects Chauncey Billups" and it has transformed into an argument about Amare going back on the word he magically gave to the fans that he would organize a training camp lol because he promised that to the fans

false 2010, you said Chauncy stated he wanted to play 2-3 more season and provided a link that never said such a thing.
this is the second time today someone has been caught taking a story, and embellishing it to suit their needs. this is the second time today ive caught posters fabricating stories.

a mini-camp with no team doctors, trainers or coaches....and he never "promised" anything...
how many times was Patrick and Houston rushed back and "cleared" to play ?? How many times was that a good idea ???
i cant believe I have to argue Health over a non-nba mini camp to any Knick Fan. Its mind boggling.
So whats the general consensus then fellas ?

Dang, i went to the store and came back and people still arguing this..
All we were saying is that we wished they had the workouts (workouts, not pickup games) when the said they would.. If it was never stated publicly that they would have them, then we wouldn't have expected it.. Its not that serious but we're expressing a lil disappointment, especially when other teams are being more proactive about getting together.. Thats all, c'mon son
