NBArank 81-90: Who should be higher?
1. Who should be ranked higher: Chris Kaman or DeAndre Jordan?

Bret LaGree, Hoopinion: DeAndre Jordan. Kaman might still be better when he's on the floor, but 90% of success is showing up.

Ian Levy, Two-Man Game: Kaman has averaged 49 games per season over the past four seasons and seen his true shooting percentage decline each of the past two. Jordan is headed in the opposite direction. He was top 10 in the league last season in offensive rebound percentage and top five in block percentage. He also dunked a higher percentage of his shots at the rim than any other player in the league. Jordan is more valuable now, and has a brighter future.

Chris Palmer, ESPN The Magazine: Kaman. Although he's missed 107 games in the past three years, Kaman is still a better player than Jordan despite the recent defensive strides the young center has made. At his best, Kaman is a poor man's Dirk when he's got that high-arching baseline jumper going. And somehow Kaman is still not yet 30.

On this team, I say DJ (at least going forward.)

On other teams, it might tilt towards Kaman. Just depends on the other players and what they need at C.

If your asking who's the better player it's Kaman hands down. He was an all star a few years ago and we've watched him when his game has been lights out. Now he isn't always consistent and he gets injured.

DJ has had is moments but still hasn't really done much in his career. I think that DJ has the potential to become the better player but right now I would rank Kaman ahead of DJ. Until DJ shows us otherwise (Which I hope he does).

I actually like DJ w/ the 1st unit b/c he is quicker & athletic; Bledsoe & Kaman play well together on the 2nd unit.
Bledsoe is a true PG & he seems to look for the Big Guts & Kaman has been taught to get open & the PG will find you. I just think that we have 2 very good centers w/ different games & that is hard to defend for 48 minutes.
I think on this team Kaman & DJ are equals.

Only thing that frustrates me about Kaman is his unwillingness to give up the ball when two teamed. He likes to try to play through it and it usually ends up as a turnover. Also his choice to finger roll or lay up a clear dunk shot.

I agree with the sentiment of having DJ start and Kaman come off of the bench. Offensively, Gordon, Blake and even Mo can carry the offensive punch. Having Kaman in with the starters means that you lose length, athleticism and defensive intimidation while having 4 offensive players sharing only 1 ball. Kaman has missed so much time to injury that his last real healthy stretch involved him being the go-to-guy. We don't need him to be that anymore if Gordon and Griffin are in the game. If he's coming off the bench, then he's able to be the focal point of the offense and beast on the opposing team's second unit.

The likelihood is that Kaman is out sometime in the next year. While he is on the team, I hope to see more Kaman and Jordan get more time together. I feel that they mesh well together and having 2 7 footers in at the same time makes it even better. DJ can fit with either and has had the opportunity to build that chemistry. Kaman and Griffin may be able to establish a connection while sharing the floor together, but it's not there yet imo.
