@WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
With no real breakthroughs in talks today, NBA will have to cancel rest of Oct. preseason games and, finally, start of regular season.

Meeting again on Monday. Still I'm getting tired of this back and forth between owners and players. Both are starting to piss me off.

Finished another long day of meetings. Unfortunately nothing new to report. We are still very far from a deal...

I think the owners that are highly leveraged are sweating the most right now and that is why Stern is racheting up a phoney sense of urgency. Seems that half the season is already gone and you can expect the blink first routine will continue. EWatch for the agents to start the barking (again) about decertification. I'll be shocked if they reach a deal Monday. D Wade doesn't look to be in a signing mood and he is one who has a lot to lose.

You're just high.
He's announcing that they're not going to cancel games on Monday. Tuesday, maybe, but not Monday.

This is a off topic question: Why don't they show last years games on Canada TV? They always used to show old games a month before the new season. Is it because of the lock out? I mean I still see 1980-1995 games but nothing recent.

Re: Official CBA/Labour Talks Discussion Thread
I think Stern needs to put these together quick.
There is no point to share the TV revenue, the league needs to be competitive for owners to gain more.
There is no point for changing the player potions, because the NFL thinks that is fair.
Stern needs to get those cheap owners who did a poor job on the team (or those don't care about winning, and treat the team as "just one of the investments") to shut up.

You obviously have never had even a lemonade stand!
Because your knowledge of business is about as sophisticated as Wade and LBJ. The reason the league is in the straits it is in is because of teams like Dallas, Portland, LAL,Orlando Miami, LAL and Boston. A league isn't a business in the strictest sense more like a huge joint venture. When parts of the joint venture force some of the nuts and bolts teams to overspend to keep players it screws the system it isn't that teams don't care about winning they do not have the assets to compete. While I dislike Michael Jordon as a owner he is a prime example. While he is rich he isn't super rich and the Bobcats are huge investment they are in a small market and also a market where NCAA Basketball is king. His only way to survive is to hemorrhage assets to keep afloat and likely he is still losing 20 million a year. LAL on the other hand have a 150 million local TV deal plus the highest tiicket prices in the league they are taking in 2 million a game where small market teams can bring in 250 thousand. Yet without 29 other teams LAL can't function.
With a reasonable CBA with owners getting 50 to 52% of revenue and a harsh 3 to 1 luxury tax with a cap about 50 to 52 million and the luxury threshold of about 60 to 62 million more teams can compete. Then the best managers will prevail and a large majority of teams can compete.

I disagree that the league is in the straits is because of a few teams.

The worst team in Milwaukee has a revenue of above 90m, and able to make a profit or minimum loss. What I see is the bottom team can almost make a profit with the least revenue and similar player expenses, why some teams can't do it? Is it other's responsibilities to ensure a poor managed team to get subsidies as well?

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James have reportedly asked the union not to go below 53 percent for their share of basketball related revenue.
Billy Hunter said the owners are seeking a cut of the players' share from 57 to 46.

The presence of the Superstars pretty much guarantee that there will be no season...
Wade's comments to Stern and the whole I'm worth more than 50 mills should stay away from negotiations. He's making no friends on either side of the table, just disturbing s***.

This is kind of off topic, but I'm curious to know who are the members on the NBA board of governors. I've tried googling it but can't figure it out. Does anyone know?

Don't the agents lose an entire years salary if there's no season? They just love screwing everything up.

Re: Official CBA/Labour Talks Discussion Thread
They are control freaks, and really don't want a system in place that makes having an agent a mute point.
If the union agrees to a system that locks player salaries in too much then what is the point of having an agent take a chunk of your salary... Only the big name players that get marketing endorsements would need an agent.
But you don't hear any of these same agents telling their clients the basic math involved... Miss a season and in all likely hood you are missing 15-20 percent of your entire nba income.
