Very nice deal. Need to get Finley locked up, he's a big part of Nelson's success (and our offense in general). Yesterday was the prime example of that. The entire game plan was stopping J-Mike, so the WR's ran wild. Get Finley locked up and our passing offense is elite for the next 4-5 seasons.

Jordy is balling and really taking advantage of the seams created by the attention Jennings and Finley are getting. Seems like he and Rodgers have really been on the same page since this win streak started, we've been seeing fewer and fewer miscommunications between them.

Meanwhile, Cobb is a startlingly quick and instinctive runner, Driver is still fairly solid, and Jones looks a step slow in the chances he gets. Even so, I still feel like there's going to come a time when we're glad we kept Jones.

Nelson's new deal ranks 27th among WRs
By Bob McGinn

Green Bay - Jordy Nelson's three-year, $12.6 million contract extension with the Green Bay Packers now places him 27th among all NFL wide receivers in average salary per year at $4.2 million.

Details of the contract, first reported by ESPN Sunday night, were obtained by the Journal Sentinel on Monday.

The deal, which was signed Saturday, contains a $3.5 million signing bonus. That is the only change this season for Nelson, who will play the rest of the year for his existing $600,000 base salary. He would have been an unrestricted free agent in March.

His cap salary for 2011 increased from $1.064 million to $1.939 million.

In 2012, Nelson has a $1 million base salary, a $1.5 million roster bonus, a per-game roster bonus of $200,000 and a workout bonus of $250,000. His cap salary will be $3.825 million.

In 2013, Nelson has a $2.7 million base salary, a $200,000 per-game roster bonus and a workout bonus of $250,000. His cap salary will be $4.025 million.

In 2014, Nelson has a $2.55 million base salary, a $200,000 per-game roster bonus and a workout bonus of $250,000. His cap salary will be $3.875 million.

The contract was negotiated by Vann McElroy and the Packers' Russ Ball.

Nelson essentially is operating as the Packers' No. 2 wide receiver. The highest-paid No. 2 WR is Nate Burleson of Detroit at $5 million. With an average of $4.2 million, Nelson is slotted 27th between New England's Wes Welker ($4.21 million) and Atlanta rookie Julio Jones ($4.05 million).

Nelson now ranks 13th in average salary per year for the Packers, just behind NT B.J. Raji ($4.5 million) and just ahead of WR James Jones ($3.2 million).

There is going to be so much overreaction here when Wells gets the next extension, or maybe even Clay, Raji, Rodgers or Jennings.

I'm positive Finley will get paid but I agree he may be the last one. They do want to make sure he can get through a full season, or most of a season. I expect all of these guys to get extended while they can still put some of the signing bonus on this years cap. If that's possible.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I think Finley could come down to the franchise tag rather than an extension during the year.

Well he does have a few more catches then Jordy so it would only make sense the Welker makes more, lol.
