Heyward for Andre Ethier?
Would you do this trade? I think it is fair because Ethier is more of a finished product, has a high batting average and has had some good home run years. The Braves think they should be in the playoffs and winning now and the Dodgers could use the cap relief. Also, I think playing alongside a legit superstar like Kemp would be good for Heyward's growth would not need to be the savior. I don't think the Braves would ever do this because they are truly more interested in keeping cap where it is than improving now. What do you guys think about this being a good trade for both teams?

Re: Heyward for Andre Ethier?
I personally would not, though tempting. Either will be 30 next season, at best he has 4-6 good seasons left. I'll keep a 22 yo Heyward. I truly believe he was the victim of the sophomore slump. He had a shoulder injury early in ST and didn't let the team know how much it was bothering him. Turns out it bothered him the first 2 months of the season, then he brought it up to the team and went on a 15 day DL stint.
I do not agree with Fredi benching him nearly 2 months. Everybody goes through slumps, let them play through it. People seem to forget the potential he has, and he showed it his rookie yr. He carried the team the first month or so his rookie yr. Was ROY runner-up and voted a NL All Star starter.

Re: Heyward for Andre Ethier?
That is a very tempting proposal. I think Heyward may break out of his slump next season. So holding onto him is not a bad bet. But if he starts off next season like he played this season, he will lose so much trade value it will be disheartening. We would never see Ethier on the table for him again. Ethier is older with less life span as a player, but he would definitely contribute better for us than Heyward did this year.
I'd likely be 52% for the trade, 48% against it. I can see the benefit to making the deal and for walking away from the deal. Dont think anyone would be wrong no matter which side they come down on in the above proposal.

Yes, I personally think it is a good trade for both teams. We are going to have to do something. Bourne, Ethier, and Constanza is a pretty good outfield or I guess leave Martin out there but I really don't see how Martin gets so much love from 1 year while others get picked apart

Not tempting in the least. Don't know how this would even be a consideration. Ethier is on his last year of arbitration and becomes a free agent after next season, even if we'd extend him, we'd still be paying him much more then Heyward over the next 4 years. Plus, Ethier is 8 years older. I'll take my chances with Heyward any day of the week.

Re: Heyward for Andre Ethier?
I'd love to have Andre Ethier but not if it cost us Heyward. I'm down on Heyward due to his lack of production this past season, but I prefer to stick with him due to add, and because he would cost less.
