When do NBA players receive paychecks?
I read somewhere most players are paid from November through April. Some players are paid all 12 month's but the summer payments from May through October are paid from the previous season.
I'm trying to figure out when the lockout actually starts costing players pay.

Re: Paychecks
The uniform player contract says players are paid in 12 equal monthly installments beginning November 15th.
It looks like players don't begin to miss a paycheck until sometime in November.

No, it says they are paid in 12 payments, but the contractual default is that those 12 are on a two-per-month basis. Unless the player amended their contract to be paid in an unusual manner, that last paycheck was May 1.
Per Sheridan, about 25% of the players have payments stretched out over the 12 months. The other 75% haven't been paid since May 1 and are expecting their paychecks to resume on November 15.

Re: Paychecks
By default, prior to November 15 players receive October training camp pay (considered an advance on their contract) of $1500 per week, so to an extent they are already missing paychecks, even though for them it's a piddling amount. During October training camp they also can begin to receive per diem checks (which are not part of their salary).

Re: Paychecks
So, some players have different arrangements but generally, paychecks are issued from November 15 through May 1. Regardless, so far the lockout hasn't cost players any pay.
I'm not sure the training camp pay is a factor since in most cases it is an advance on the season’s salary rather than additional money paid.
The date is getting close when the lockout could cost players money.
Does anyone know the deadline under the old CBA for beginning a season without being subject to a partial season adjustment in pay?

Re: Paychecks
As far as I can tell, paychecks aren't subject to proration until regular season games are missed. Games are schedules beginning the last couple of days of October. So, paychecks are subject to reduction beginning around November 1.
