Game-5 Bears @ Lions 8:30 Monday nite kickoff

Post#1 » by kellmellus50 » Tue Oct 4, 2011 12:12 pm

The person Lions have to worry about is Matt Forte , he is going to get yardage, keep a LB on him every down and we need durant to play in this game.

Stafford continues to throw a INT early in games and the reason lions are not scoring in the first half is it takes Stafford 2 QTRs to warm up.He's need to take pre game warm-up more seriously.

Lions again wil fall behind early and stafford wil again throw an early INT but lions will come back in a blowout win 38-24 i also see CJ getting 2 more TD passes in this game.

Game note to coach :Lions need to activate Ricardo Silva from the practice squad and use him he is very good.preseason he had he has two interceptions and recovered a fumble .one int was taken from tom brady.

Predictions:

1) We win
2) CJ gets 2 TD's, breaking Carter's record, not top 5 my a$$
3) Cutler gets sacked a minimum of 4 times
4) If the Lions get an early lead, Martz will pull a Martz and forget you can run the ball.

Fact: Take Forte away from the chicago offense and what do you have? Not much. That's not meant to slight Cutler, who's been sacked 15 times and has little to work with besides Forte in the passing game, but the Bears won't win many games if they pin their hopes on the arm of the quarterback. On the other hand, Forte is the perfect fit in the Mike Martz offense, and is on pace for an eye-popping 2,536 all-purpose yards

Plus Greg Olsen is out this week. Funny that it's not because of an injury but because they simply had no interest in him. Every little bit counts!

lions sign safety Vincent Fuller he has a rather lean build and could stand to add more functional bulk and strength. He is better in coverage than he is in run support. He can recognize routes and does a good job of reading the quarterback's eyes to get a jump on the ball from deep coverage. He is a little stiff in the hips and looks a bit sloppy in transition but once he gets realigned, he shows a decent burst to close on the ball.

The Lions also tried out former Indianapolis Colts safety Aaron Francisco.

Plus, the Lions auditioned former Philadelphia Eagles offensive guard Nick Cole, who has started 29 of 77 career games.

The Lions also worked out former Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Montrae Holland, center Cecil Newton, the brother of Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Cam Newton, and former Cincinnati Bengals center Reggie Stephens.

This game has alot of little things that add up when trying to pick a winner. My picks have been rock solid over the first 4 weeks, but this game is a toughie.

1.)The Lions front should tear up Cutler, and get to him on a consistent basis, but that depends on what attitude they bring to the game, and if they are *gasp* going to try and play an entire game of football, and not just a half. There is only so many times you can come marching back from these huge holes, before you get snake bit. If the Bears build an early first half lead, they WILL be the first team to figure out that all they have to do is run the ball and the Lions will not have another comeback win.

2.)The run game. The lions are going to have to start mixing it up, and this would be a good time to do it. Instead of having Best just run into the damn pile everytime they try, how about some pitch plays? I dont know about you guys, but I laugh my ass off everytime they run the ball, because I know exactly what its going to look like, and how many yards we'll "pile up". 2-3 everytime. I know our receiving core is awesome. I know Stafford has a cannon for an arm, and the accuracy of william tell, but its a hell of alot easier to defend a team, when you KNOW what they are going to do an any play that it needs the yardage. I alos know that Leshure is out for the season, but for the love of all things cheesy, MIX IT UP.

3.)I am sure that these Lions have this, and the next game against the Bears circled. They should have won both games, and I honestly think CJ/Stafford are going to connect for MORE then two TD's passes just to emphasize that last years catch should have counted, and the Bears should have never even been in the playoffs. Thats a huge motivating factor, and its one the Lions need, to keep this season rolling.

4.)O-line. The past two years have seen Stafford gotten creamed, and knocked out for the season, by these very Bears. Lets not do this again, please. This is also some extra motivation for the team to pile on against the Bears.

5.)Monday night game, both teams will come to play. I just hope that the Lions dont come out to amped up and lose focus, and bury themselves into a massive hole again before halftime, because the Bears will keep them there.

I am looking for the Lions to win this one, and for the first time all year, I am actually going to pick them to win a game in my pool. I hope that I dont reverse jinx them...

What could we offer for Hillis? I don't know much about the Browns or their needs, but I'm assuming the deal would be Hillis for Best+, just not sure what their needs are. I would LOVE to get Hillis in here long term.

Hillis is Madden cursed, I don't want him. What's even scarier is that I don't generally believe in superstition, but the Madden curse is the exception to the rule.

I'd rather keep our chips and wait till Leshore comes back, then we will have our 1-2 punch. I'd much rather trade for a lineman than another running back.

LOL, Best is worth more than Hillis. It would have to be Hillis+ to get Best. I'm sure the Browns asking price is lower than Best, or any recent first round draft pick short of a busted player. They should ask for one of our other RBs+, if they want a RB in return that is.

I'd be interested in their first round pick as well, so I would be curious to know what they want for Hillis + their first, and I would offer some of our 2-7 picks, Shaun Hill (he has got to go while there still might be teams stupid enough to pay us for him), any non-Best RBs, one of our DTs, or really any expendable defensive player. Just a matter of where the negotiations go. I might look at their 2013 first rounder as well.

IMO, there is no way Best > Hillis as far as trade value. But to each his own I suppose....

Hillis = 6'2", 250 lbs, 25 years old
1177 rushing yards in 2010 (4.4 yard per carry)
477 recieving yards in 2010 (7.8 yards per catch)
13 total TD's in 2010

Best = 5'10", 200 lbs, 22 years old
555 rushing yards in 2010 (3.2 average per carry)
487 recieving yards in 2010 (8.4 average per catch)
6 total TD's in 2010

Best > Hillis has got to be a joke.

I love Best, but he's just not as good of a RB yet, plain and simple.

More so, the reason I would make the trade is because of fit. Hillis is the PERFECT fit to what ails our run game. He's exactly the type of north/south power RB that we need.

Imagine our offense with the power of Hillis inside, coupled with the power of Megatron outside. Then, Suh and Fairley on defense. That would be one mean and talented football team. Not to mention Stafford.

Best is a great receiving RB, but we have more than enough quality receivers. I think Hillis would be a much better fit.

And when LeShoure comes back, they would make a better tandem, I think.

If we could somehow get Hillis, I honestly think we would be become instant favorites to win the SB.

He would obliterate our only real weakness, and we would be unstoppable on offense. With Fairley coming, potentially the same on defense as well. Not many 4-0 teams add two players of that caliber 1/4 into the season.

I'd give up our #1 pick next year for Hillis, if we can keep Best.

But if its straight up, no picks, I'd do Best 4 Hillis.

We;re looking at a late 1st rounder likely. Still valuable, but when you have a chance to fill your biggest hole right now with the perfect fit of a player, its worth a late 1st rounder, imo.

I just wonder if we have the cap space to give him the contract he wants, if CLE agreed to a deal.

I feel like with all the success now, Ford would be willing to pay for what could be the missing piece to a SB run, but I'm not sure of the cap situation. Last I heard we only had a few mil to spend, but not sure how it all works in the NFL.

You are acting like gross yardage and TDs somehow determine who is the better player. Best was hurt, and didn't play, your posting of those numbers doesn't illustrate anything meaningful that helps to answer the question.
