Deron Williams Playing Bad

Post#4 » by NyCeEvO » Fri Oct 7, 2011 2:45 am

This is the exact same topic that KodyGSoufSide posted on the GB. I was going to actually post this here earlier but he did it on the GB before I could ask you guys.

What is up with D-Will?
As N.B.A. players and owners struggled to prevent a labor dispute from disrupting the regular season, one star player did something novel: he played in a basketball game that mattered.

Deron Williams, the Nets’ point guard, was here Tuesday night with his teammates on Besiktas Milangaz, a professional team from Istanbul playing a game in the Eurocup, a second-tier intercontinental competition.

Perhaps Williams wished he had been back at the negotiating table. In a 74-63 loss to host Dexia Mons-Hainaut, he finished with 7 points, 7 assists and 6 turnovers. He shot 3 of 13 from the floor. The loss eliminated Besiktas from the tournament.

“Didn’t give my team much of a chance,” he said…

Asked if he was still adjusting to the European game, Williams said: “I mean, I’ve played in a lot of European basketball. I’ve played in the Olympics. But this is definitely different. The way the reffing has been going has been different for me, but I’ve got to adjust.”

Maybe he's just terribly out of shape? I can't think of any other explanation :-/...

That's what happens when Brook Lopez isn't there to inflate his stats.

Farmar on the other hand, shone in Maccabi's first home game yesterday against Cibona with 19 points (66% FG), 7 assists and 4 rebounds in 28 minutes. He's still adjusting to the European game and has a tendency to commit turnovers but overall he seems to be in good shape.

In shape out of shape, bad refs, cold toilet seat....whatever....., the rest of the world is catching up to us talent wise. The days of the USA "Dream Team" are over.

If Farmar keeps playing well he could be a very useful trade chip

Oh god read the thread about this on the General Board, it's full of bitter Jazz fans essentially claiming that Deron is done

First Deron was going to consider re-signing with the Jazz (despite the fact that the Jazz won't have the cap space to sign him), now Deron is a shell of his former self because the mighty ringless one (Jerry Sloan) isn't there to manage his minutes and keep him in shape...

I guess when you mean "full of bitter jazz fans" you mean just one poster.

Thanks for lumping us all in there!

Deron is THE most overrated player in the NBA. I'm not judging him by those games in Europe (because he's playing with some scrubs in a bad team that is playing in some minor European league and he might not care) but I've just never seen anything special in him. How some people rate him above CP3 is beyond ridiculous...

CP3 is a good player but he's a straight up bitch weasel. Dude fops more than anyone else in the game BY FAR. Hell I'd argue he flops more than Prime Manu (Manu's flopping was always overexaggerated because he was a White "Euro"*)...

*Unbeknownst to most NBA Fans Argentina is actually in South America not Europe...

If you have actually watched him play, you would realize he has one of the best handles in the game as well as passing vision. Not to mention he can pretty much do everything pretty well.
