bigger dissapointment, Philles or Yanks?

Post#1 » by ccvle » Sat Oct 8, 2011 3:13 am

How did the Philles manage to lose the past two seasons with that rotation? It seems like their lineup is overrated.

Everyone had much higher hopes for the Phillies, going into this season all the so called experts talked about the Phillies and the Red Sox, ESPN had Philly first in their power rankings for basically the entire season.

There was a lot of pessimism going into the season with the Yankees, we knew from day one that the starting pitching was trouble and that half the team is past their prime.

So like Boston, they should be embarrassed; the Yankees might have been a let down in the end but it was hardly an embarrassment considering all the issues.

their inability to hit offspeed stuff is frankly sad

even the last at bat, howard was gifted a hanging breaking ball, a guy with his contract should pummel that ball

The Phillies are older than the Yankees....I just love the fact that I can laugh at Cliff Lee who thought he didn't see the Yanks as a World Series contender. Big mistake Cliffy...big...mistake...he must share insight with Felix Hernandez as two guys who will NEVER sniff a World Series Ring.

Phillies definitely. With that rotation, anything short of the world series is a huge disappointment.

yankees exposed them in 2009, especially using damso marte to completly neutralize howard late in games...

I would say philly was the bigger dissapointment.. but I already told people that they had a good team on paper.. oswalt is not the same power pitcher he used to be, and cliff lee got his money, so time for him to let off the gas a bit.. LOL..

Honestly, I expected the yankees to go all the way and with just one more hit in game 5, we are advancing.... we won the east with CC and a patchwork pitching staff, and injuries to A-rod all year. If the yanks had another front line starting pitcher who knows....

I do think the Yanks need to get grittier. They already have a young star in cano.. Monetero looks like he could be headed that way.... I would like to see more guys who play like brett gardner.. just look back at the dynasty teams we had in the mid to late 90's... not many stars, no bloated contracts.. just great everyday players who knew how to play big when it counts... I would give anything to have scott brosious in post season over A-rod.... any friggin day...

I vote Red Sox.

Wut? They were supposed to be better than the 1927 Yankees right?

Seriously though, yeah, with that rotation, Phillies basically was in a no win situation (ironically enough). If they won it all, it would have been because they're supposed to. If they lost it, it would have been viewed as a choke.

Phillies just choked again, just like last year. Self-proclaimed best team in baseball & best regular season game but choking badly when it really matters ..

Yankees not reaching the WS is to me the biggest disappointment .. Give this team another great pitcher and it's a lock for a WS win IMO ..

Return to New York Yankees
