idk how to rate this game
we won 1-0
should have been 2 goals, but Brek F'uped 5 yards from goal

honduras was controlling the pace of the game
we didnt have enough possession
bekerman and edu started off great
then they dissapeared

ref kinda sucked
lots of yellows on our side
i liked how altidore played
he was winning the ball, and holding it
he was getting fouled all game

Orozco sucks, he really has no idea where to be positioned. Oh and Beckerman runs out of steam 50 minutes into the game. His first touch is horrid as well.

I liked how Williams played and Chandler/Cherundolo looked great.

This game should've ended 6-4 Honduras. The fact that Honduras had so many clear shots on goal was alarming.

I like the pace of the game though, it was a good game to watch.

Glad Daniel Williams seems to do well. He's from the Freiburg youth academy, always good to see one of those kids getting caps. Klinsi played him as a DM?

I'd rather have Bradley. At least he's had some clutch moments for the US team, Beckerman just seems to be lost in the pace of international footy.

Brek Shea REALLY needs to go to Europe. Like ASAP. He has skill plus the size to be a freaking monster, but he needs to go to Europe and become more Dempsey than Donovan. Donovan was a prodigy but he decided to play it safe and he really has not progressed much in the past 4+ years. In stark contrast Dempsey has gotten markedly better annually after not even being in the same breath as Donovan early in their careers. Brek is big enough that he won't get benched as Adu did in Europe, so I say the sooner he makes the jump the better.

Sleepy - Williams was out on the wing. What's his natural position?

Was mostly RB in the Bundesliga but used to play DM in the youth and reserve matches. He can play everything on defense, even CD if he has to, but his best fit is either RB or the right DM in a 4-2-3-1.

where should Brek go ?
England, Germany, Netherlands, maybe even Spain
if he did, he would have to go somewhere where hes the full time starter
i wouldnt like it if he had to sit on the bench
*

Williams, if develops and is liked
could easily step in at R/LB, with Chandler on the other side
both are young, and can be our future defensive cogs

That'd be good, as Chandler has been a revelation on the wing so all we'd need is another wing back to round out our defense. Anything to keep Spector on the bench.

I think Brek would fit right in on a lower tier EPL squad because of his size and physicality. The problem with Americans abroad is that, usually, they aren't given a fair shake right away. West Brom, Wigan, Blackburn, all places I think Brek could start at right now. Especially Wigan, they **** suck and just lost their starting winger so now they're starting two crap guys out wide. Brek could at least split 50/50 with one of those players.

The team is kinda shaping up, Holden, Chandler, Dempsey, Donovan, Cherundolo, Howard, and Altidore are players I have a tremendous amount of confidence in. Brek is getting there but it's obvious he's still growing, as are Agudelo and Danny Williams. Definitely still have some holes though.

USA vs Ecuador today!

Ecuador is no push over imo. They have good assortment of players in their team:

Antonio Valencia - Man U
Édison Méndez - Emelec
Christian Benítez - America
Walter Ayoví - Monterrey
Joffre Guerrón - Atlético Paranaense
Diego Calderón - LDU Quito
Franklin Salas - LDU Quito

I think the US will have a tougher time with Ecuador than Honduras.

I think Honduras is better but it's crazy how much better these South American teams have been getting after the last world cup. Chile is the most noticeable example of this, pretty sure they'd whipe the pitch with us.

Projected United States starting XI (4-2-3-1):
Howard;
Chandler, Bocanegra, Onyewu, Cherundolo;
Edu, Bradley;
Shea, Dempsey, Williams;
Altidore

i HATE playing with 1 Forward
but Dempsey played very high in the game vs Honduras
i do NOT want Onyewu, getting time, and blocking chances of other players
i was really hoping to see Ream
i dont like Bradley, i still prefer Beckerman. after that, idk who else we can use there
(torres, but hes injured, and hes a pure Mid, not a Defensive Mid)

Starting Lineup for the USMNT vs. Ecuador tonight:
Howard;
Chandler, Bocanegra, Onyewu, Cherundolo;
Beckerman;
Williams, Edu, Shea;
Dempsey, Altidore

4-1-3-2
very nice. this is what ive been wanting to see

ill look for other reports of the lineup and confirm this formation. earlier projections and talk was they were going to use the same formation used for saturdays game vs Honduras

Beckerman in a holding D.Mid position - i hope he shows all game and doesnt fade
Edu in a creating Mid position - not his perfect spot. idk if he actually creates anything
Williams, outisde Mid - people here saying not his natural position, more of a Defender

the Formation (4-1-3-2) is exactly what ive wanted to see
too bad its going to b vs an opponent who has been playing meaningful important matches
and have a set style and set roster

theres 3 guys that look to be the scoring/creating threats, Shea, Dempsey, Altidore
i dont think anyone else is a threat
that seems like something very easy to defend against

im all over the place with thoughts about this team
lots of questions still

well, the formation worked real good in the 1st half
we had good possession and some good chances

DAMMIT. Onyewu played real good.
sigh. i dont want him in there.

Brek, Williams and Chandler also played real good

Beckerman needs to improve his short passing and pin point passes
under pressure, he leads our guys too much and we lose the possession

Beasley is just too weak. he gets pushed off the ball every time
and it was a hard game to just sub in 4 guys, and expect high results

possession was good.
scoring and scoring chances were slim, again

yea, lots of interest for Brek right now
this is all positive
the only thing that i see, that could b a problem is
playing time
wherever he goes, he should be the starter
idk, if thats gonna happen at Man U or a top club
id rather he go to a 2nd tier club, and starts and gets all the playing time
