Just let Hamed play for 8 minutes/game and I´m ok with our center depth.

I thought trading for a guy like DeanDre Jordan would be worth pursuing if it shows up. In the end if no deal comes up you resign Hamed and bring in a training camp fille like Sean Williams, Nathan Jawai, Chris Johnson, or Josh Davis

Another thing to consider is that Hasheem Thabeet will be available next season as a free agent and he will have had plenty of rapport with the Grizzlies org. It would be a bargain to get a guy back that we invested millions into for the $750k range. He might even be a serviceable backup at that point.

vanjulio wrote:The 2 first round picks make it a deal breaker. how would Josh Smith respond to being traded to Memphis to come off the bench? I think we'd have major chemistry issues though I'd like him backing up ZBO + Gay. It's a decent video game trade (without the picks still) but real life could never work.

Our small lineup would be epic though: Arthur -C, Smith -PF, Gay/Young - SF, Allen/Selby - SG, Conley/Vasqeuz - PG

normal lineup though is weird. Is he the 3rd string PF or 2nd string SF or niether? Can he backup Gasol at Center???

what about Arthur + Mayo + 0 first round picks for SMith?

Smith has big trade value. Nobody will get him for a bunch of 2nd string types and mid-low picks.

I'm thinking if the Grizzlies do re-sign Marc Gasol, there wouldn't be many minutes open with Gasol, Zach Randolph and Darrell Arthur taking up most of the minutes, so it wouldn't be smart to trade a proven rotation player like Young. But the centers in free agency are lacking for the most part. I wanted Joel Pryzbilla from the start, but he's battled injuries and I think he'll end up with the Milwaukee Bucks. I liked Hamed Haddadi, but he's more of a third stringer to me.

Johan Petro is available. 8-)

He can't be any worse than Hasheem Thabeet.

Nothing new here to see people keep trying to rape Grizz for OJ Mayo.

OJ blowing up in or not in a Grizzlies uniform.
OJ Mayo , Michael Jordan , Allen Iverson.

This should be fair...........from a Bulls perpestive............Kyle Korver,Bulls 2012 pick and Charolette's pick for Mayo.

Why?? Memphis gets a elite 3pt shooter who is basically a expiring and they get 2-1st round picks, one which could be a lotto pick(Jordan sucks as a gm)

Bulls get a running mate for Rose.

That deal was mentioned hundreds of times and didn't work
just keep that elite 3pt shooter. Griz would keep much more talented young boy named oj mayo~

It's really hard to say at this point. Even with his much improved play in the playoffs, I think OJ is done in Memphis. There apparently just isn't chemistry with Hollins and Mayo/Mayo's camp. That said, I think the asking price for him (15th + McRoberts for example) has gone up. I believe that the Grizz are content to keep him and trade him at the deadline, if necessary. Therefore, an offer will need to be solid (not one sided) to make a deal happen. I don't think a pick alone (with cap space TPE, NG contract) will do it. That said, I really don't think the Bulls have the right combo of assets to make something happen - without a third team getting involved.

Pick(s)
Some cap relief
Vet specialist (stretch big, reliable wing 3 shooter)

Is that non specific enough LOL

Lopez, Morris, Pietrus, 2nd for Mayo/Arthur/Henry

Conley/Vasquez
Allen/Pietrus
Gay/Young
Randolph/Morris
Gasol/Lopez

Memphis gets a backup center, a defensive, 3point shooting wing to replace Battier, and a recent lotto pick (#13) in Morris who's the type of defensive stretch big they want coming to back up Z-Bo.

I'm curious if you'd swap Mayo for the 2013 MEM 1st back (lottery protected), plus expiring salary filler?

I always like the idea of getting a protected pick back to the original team, since it allows them to plan their future better, and provides insurance. By owning the pick, MEM can sidestep the Stepian Rule, which forbids a team from making a trade that leaves it without first rounders in the next two drafts. This would allow MEM to trade either the 2012 or 2013 pick if they needed to, or carry either for insurance. Shedding the salary by 2012 would make the MEM books look better assuming you retain Gasol.

For MIN, they could certainly use a scoring PG, and perhaps Mayo would fit next to Rubio. He's small, but he would provide additional scoring and ball handling. My biggest worry (as MEM's probably is), is having the money to retain him after next season. MIN may be looking for money for new contracts for Love, Beasley and Anthony Randolph, so Mayo might be the wrong draft class for them.

No. I wouldn't, nor do I believe the Grizz would.

Someone on the Magic forum is reporting that Rudy Gay was talking on ESPN about being traded. Is this true? If it is, why does Rudy think he might be traded, and what would the Grizzlies want in return?
Remember when Kobe elbowed Jameer in the chin so hard Jameer was knocked down and sent skidding across the floor?

This is a link to an article regarding possible amnesty cuts. I think it's a good reflection of the fact that the Grizz won't be moving Rudy (by cut or trade) any time soon.

There seems to be some talk about the Pacers and Gasol. I know that you guys plan to match any offer but some media folks think the Pacers will offer Hibbert in a sign and trade for Gasol. Would you guys go for it or would you pass.. It saves you big time money for a year.

Grizz are prepared to keep Gasol and spend money. Heisley does not mind spending when the Grizz are winning. He believes in this core. Gasol will be in Memphis.

I was hoping for memphis rumors. they get Billups and Fields, Orleans gets Rudy Gay and Toney Douglas,
we get Paul. Memphis gets cap relief without amnestying Gay and they can be major players in 2012 free agent market or just stay put.

Would you guys consider this. Between your point gaurd, Gasol and OJ Mayo and Tony allen you are one of the few teams who actually have pieces to go after Deron and Dwight especially if you get rid of all those years on Gay's contract.

The only problem with that is superstars like Dwight and Deron don't necessarily want to play in small markets like Memphis. And it's part of the reason small market teams shell out major $$$ when they suspect they have a player.

I think we will see a deal involving OJ this year, and the only thing that I can come up with at this time is a deal with the Jazz.

MEM sends:
OJ & unprotected future 1st

Utah sends:
Derrick Favors

Utah has a log jam at the PF spot and unless they don't plan on playing Enes, Favors may be on the outside looking in for minutes.

The Jazz are not giving up Favors.

They'll send out one of Okur, Jefferson or Millsap if they make a move.
