Looks like he should shoulder most of the blame for the collapse. GM sets the culture of the team, and it looks like nobody on this team besides Pedroia could have a flying fig about winning. It could be the most "Me" team ever.

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

When Theo wants to upgrade a position, such as LF during free agency, he typically has only 1 player that could be considered an upgrade. They are such winners that to make improvements, the right pieces cost 5x what it cost us.

Its not like he throws extra money at the same caliber of players we are signing.

I know he brought all the guys in, but it sounds like that should fall on the manager anyway. I haven't read the full article, but I gather it's the chicken and beer thing. Is it really that big of a deal? If they win one or two more games over the course of the season, that story, if reported at all, is reported as an example of camaraderie, and the guys in the clubhouse being loose. A bunch of idiots part 2, even. This is all spin.

I for one am glad to have Epstein out of the division.
