Hopkins why... because everytime I think he will lose, he wins....
Dawson is beyond boring... I really just hate his demeanor. He doesn't give a damn. He reminds me of T-mac, talented but coasts way too much for his talent level.
Linares was the next big thing before getting the KTFO by some journeyman a while back... Demarco just isn't that good.
Holt is bipolar... he has perhaps the biggest variation of good fights and bad fights... Garcia is finally seeing someone of his talent level.
Paulie... man... he has had such a long career given that he isn't all that good compared to the elite, and doesn't have any KO power.

Re: Boxing Thread 3.0
I agree with you on Dawson, he's very talented but doesn't seem to be "in it". I have a very hard time seeing Dawson winning. I'm sure he has the talent level to beat Hopkins but Bernard is the type that gets inside your head and breaks you down. Only way Dawson wins is if Father Time does strike tonight.
I like Linares big against DeMarco...likely by KO, he's more skilled and simply more talented. I think he'll start to become more viable here in the States starting next year. People will always question his chin but he's going to be a threat down the line at 140.
Screw it...give me Holt with the upset. Garcia just doesn't impress me at times, though I know Holt can be streaky. Toss-up fight and this will be fight of the night.

Well when you have refs that are dumber than a 5 year old...
It has to be overturned... and yeah... I didn't pay for it and didn't care to see it. Why support bad boxing and HBO's stupidity for misusing their 60 million dollar budget in the year. Thank god that Greenburg is out.... Hershman would never let this crap go on.

Thanks for the link... I had not had a chance to see it.
There are things you aren't allowed to do in boxing... that is clearly one of them.

Grappling or body checking? Cos they're both pushing boundaries. You're not allowed to grapple, you're not allowed to hold, and you're not allowed to push. But Hopkins initiated exactly that. If you're in a proper boxing stance (looking to actually punch), you can't be body checked. The only way you can get thrown like that is you're moving forward two-footed to grapple with a dude. Those are the consequences of grappling.
This is a case where a long career of whining and faking and dirty tactics have bitten BHop in the ass. He is a whatever-it-takes-to-get-the-W kind of guy. He said it himself after the Mayweather fight. So why should a ref take him seriously? He virtually admitted during the post-fight that he had faked injury in the Calzaghe fight. And God damn if I haven't seen that scrunched-up, whining to the ref expression on Hopkins' face a 1,000 previous times. He's constantly looking to manipulate officials. Immediately, at the start of every fight he starts whining about phantom fouls.
F*** him. The boy who cried wolf.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Re: Boxing Thread 3.0
Hopkins filed an appeal to the CSAC to overturn the Dawson win to a Hopkins win by DQ. I don't think he should win that appeal as watching as it happened and on replay, it should be a NC.
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will defend title in Mexico against Kermit Cintron on HBO split-site tripleheader on November 26th.
Adrien Broner and Gary Russell Jr. will be on the undercard against opponents to be named. That portion of the card will be in Cincinnati.

I did not see this happening. I did not like how Dawson's trainer came across at all so I am happy.

They have name value, but when faced with the elite it is clear that they don't have it to even bother the top of the division. They are the defacto gatekeepers for the creme of the crop.

Well the ref was an idiot... I also don't think Dawson is all that good... As long as Hopkins has the RING title... that is all what matters. Who gives a **** about the other body belts.

Donaire looked thin at the weigh in yesterday, came in at a bit over 116 but they say he's gonna be 130 entering the ring

He is huge for his weight class... Naravez is game but is closer to 5'1 than his listed 5'3. It is a physical mismatch. He is quite a skilled fighter, but I think it will be over quick.

Re: Boxing Thread 3.0
DeMarco-Linares Round 11 should be a Round of the Year Candidate.
We waited way too long to see Donaire back in the ring. Someone tell Donaire that if he wins tonight, to keep his wife out of his business affairs.
I'm all in for supporting Breast Cancer Awareness, but Donaire...not feeling the socks!
If Narvaez expects Donaire to tire in the later rounds, he's going to be disappointed. This will be a wide-UD snoozefest to Donaire. On the other side, Donaire's forgotten to mix up his targets.
I understand that boxers risk their lives every time they enter the ring, especially against someone with Donaire's power, but there's defense to open up offense and there's just unwilling to trade. When a boxer is unwilling to trade, it looks bad for both boxers and for the sport. Donaire though should've went to the body so much more and should've mixed the head and body on combination targets.

Narvaez was doing alright til maybe the 4th round... I just turned the channel. He wasn't going to engage enough to win enough rounds and it was clear that he was smart enough to not get tagged... so there was the boring UD from what I have read.

108 lb. IBF titlist Ulises Solis claims to have been assaulted by 154 lb. WBC titlist Saul "Canelo" Alvarez during an argument in Guadalajara. Solis said Canelo confronted him because he thinks Solis is going out with his woman and Solis replied that he has no idea what he is talking about and also doesn't know who Canelo is going out with. Afterward, Alvarez threw 2 punches to the face of Solis and knocked him down. The punches knocked out a tooth and fractured his jaw. He also hit Solis in the back of the head as he tried to get up. Solis also claims that Alvarez made a death threat if they ever crossed paths again. The reporter says that Canelo's response was that his brother did it, to which Solis replied that he only knows of his older brother Rigoberto, who is also a fighter but is bald and bigger.
