O's extend JJ Hardy

3 years/$22 million, limited no trade clause. Good move on the the part of the team, they have no shortstop in the system who could come in and play right away. Hopefully by the time Hardy's contract runs out, Machado will be ready.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

I like the idea of extending him now. The biggest risk is injury, but it seems we should be able to structure a deal to protect us in that case. We really have no better options for the next 2-3 years.

Definetely loved this move. He is one of the better SS's in the game, very good defensively and hit 30/80 this year. Im sick of having guys like Itzuris at SS, so it was definetely nice to get a guy like this who is a veteran leader that people respect and to sign him long-term.

Great to see the Orioles forum is so active on this site lol.

And he's the perfect guy to keep up here while Machado develops in the minors. Probably one of the handful of movies MacFail got right during his tenure here (the other being getting Adam Jones).
